Community needs an official Scenario making guide.

Post by FellingerXZ »

Hello people, as someone whos been playing this game for over 3 years and have accumulated over 1,000 hours on it, i initially struggled a lot on how to make scenarios, most would give up but i kept fighting and eventually i mostly mastered the engine by my 400th hour and im still learning. If there was a proper tutorial guide besides scraps from there and there it would help so many new people. One of the complains i hear most of the time is that the editor is too complex, i dont agree with them, but it certainly feels like when you dont got someone guiding you. What do you old timers think?. With the coming-soon update perhaps this could help the community a lot

There is an editor's manual.

The thing is, there are several specialized topics like the events editor, naval ratings, and now the upcoming hierarchy settings that could use their own guides.

You mean those sections in the manual?, sure but they arent alone really that helpful a centralized guide would be better imo, and if theres a proper one then its hardly accesible because most noob modders have never disocvered it. In reddit that was the biggest complain i heard about the game

PS: Theres also this document thats really hard to find and you need to pay for scribd

While discussing the new features of the editor, I, sort of, gave a bit of a tutorial on scenario design here:

There is a 'civilian' editor's manual. Let us know if you don't have it.

Klemme's guide was good like 20 years ago. I would think it out of date now.

Sure id like to see it, and should be more accessible because most people never seem to find it.

Thanks for finding that Guide by Klemme. The checklist at the end was a good idea. I know it is somewhat out of date but it would be worth editing it to bring it up to date. It is a bit above my skill level but I am happy to help if any one wants to run with it.

Civilian Manuals:

The Editor Manual isn't a How To but it offers some explanations. A for real How To would be a bit of work. It is probably easier to poke around the Editor yourself and ask questions here to get specific guidance.

There are a couple of videos created with III but most of it applies to IV:

i feel like there's need for a new version of a guide. Like the one Klemme's made but more updated. And additional stuff
