Great guide! I think TOAW is a really very well documented game. Just what I need.

This shot shows the cumulative AP and DF strengths in each stack.

This question relates to the thread "The State of digital Wargaming".

Is there anything on the game screen that tells me I am currently looking at cumulative AP and DF strengths?

Put your cursor over the button circled and see the display mode in the info panel:

So, I can see that my comment was correct in that I cannot see any values for a stack.

So I set my Edit Counter Values like this:

Stack Anti Armour..........Stack Armour Defense
Stack Anti Personnell......Stack Defense
Remaining movement allowance
Unit Time Stamp

Before I continue, discussing the same issue that I noticed 4 years ago, I cannot install the latest patch, which means the words at the bottom of my screen are different to the words at the bottom of the screen 2 posts above.
It seems the issue has been solved!

Well no I did not. I bought the game from Matrix back in 2017. I recently picked up the game again and could not install the last patch.

My solution was to buy the game a second time through Steam and obviously it is patched.

Ouch. Could have just requested a Steam key. It's free.

Yeah, steam is great [not]. How come steam can patch it but Matrix can't ? Why doesn't Matrix offer the majic key to unlock the mystery ? What can Matrix learn from steam?

There was a patch snafu. Then that got sorted out but it complicated the patch process. Then that got sorted out. But there are still headscratchers that catch people not in the know like files and where they can be found. And there's the button on the Launch screen that says "Check for Update" that just screws things up if you click on it. Not sure if it's been fixed because I don't want to click on it and go through the hassle of the damned thing screwing things up.

Some really basic things go unfixed and noobs are constantly asking the same questions over and over and over. Easier to just get a Steam key and that takes care of much of the hassle. But even at that there are still things that result in wtf moments that shouldn't be there. Learn to live with them I guess.

If there's one feature request (if you can even call it that) I'd make it's to have someone comment as to what actual font is what in 'Opart 4 fonts.ini'.

I have no idea what [SmallFont] correlates to. Same with [MediumFont] and most of the others. Right now users have to just edit the file and hope by trial and error we are choosing the right value to tweak, which is frustrating.

Throw us a bone. Geesh.

May I ask someone who plays on a 1080p or 4k screen to share their 'Opart 4 Fonts.ini', because I'm having a hell of a time configuring the UI. It's either so small I can't see it or blown out and looks like garbage. I know there's an in-between there somewhere. lol

Alright, I did some digging and found this.

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 7#p4207447

I appreciate all of the hard work that goes into these games, from the devs and the community, and I'd just like to suggest that perhaps this thread be stickied here or that .ini file pinned in the root forum. It would make for a much better experience for us new players. I was about to put the game away, despite the fact I love the mechanics, and go back to JTS/WDS stuff just because I have spent more time fiddling with fonts than playing the game.

Cheers!

Sorry for the triple post, but I just spent a bunch of time tweaking this file for 1080p display and wanted to share. It's a modified version of the one I previously posted, but with new features added since then, I've tweaked the file accordingly. Looks very nice on my 4k display - running at 1080p set through nvidia control panel.

Opart 4 Fonts.txt
replace the file extension with .ini - the forums won't let me upload an *.ini, probably for good reason.

Too bad that in the top right window each individual unit is ALSO displayed with the TOTAL.
