I need a wider one...

Post by Dennistoun »

Hi Folks,
my Action Control window comes up as a small box rather than a wider one that I see in the YouTube videos.
How do I expand mine?

What resolution do you run the game in? I'm finding it happens to me too.

Do any of the other forum members have any ideas on how to get around this?

Go to the folder where the game is installed. Double click Configuration.ini. Change the values of Sizex and Sizey
to 1920 and 1080 respectively-Sizex=1920 Sizey=1080.

Doesn't work for me, Parusski. Starts off wide at set up but then goes to small box in next segment and stays that way.

How does it look at 1080? I might try that. The graphics aren't "high rezzzzz" (which I'm not complaining about, I love the map boards, and use the ASL counters now) so I can see running it on a "lower" resolution (I run the game on a surface pro 4, which runs at a really high resolution for the screen size), if the UI is a bit easier to clicky on.

*edit* I had been running at 1920 x 1200

Try set Windowed=Yes also in the Configuration.ini file

I did both of those a while ago and it hasn't made any difference to me.

I would be shocked if this game even worked in 4k 3840x2160 and look at the price. Not wasting my time.

Yes, like Mike I have tried the above ideas and this problem still persists.
It's a lot of money to spend on a game when you have something like this happening.
Any more suggestions before this toes upstairs?
I've posted on Helpdesk so I'll wait & see how this pans out. I'll keep y'all posted.

The action log window size depends on the screen resolution. So if the game runs at 1920x1080 the action will will be wider than at 1200x800 resolution. The action log window is bot resizible. Also please make sure that the desktop DPI is at 100% and not higher.

What I find weird about it is that in some resolutions it's about 1/2 the size I feel it should be (especially compared to others). I don't know if it has something to do with screen scaling in high DPI resolutions (it looks weird on my Surface, but fine on my desktop). I'll try to screenshot it when I get a chance.

[X(] Well, I hope that's an embarrassed enough smiley face. I just went and checked the DPI settings and they're set to 150 on my surface. Popped them down to 100 and it seems to have fixed the box (scrolling seems smoother too, but might just be placebo).

I'm a bit torn between adjusting the resolution and scaling each time I wanna play TotH on my Surface of just giving up on the device and playing it on my desktop (where it runs just find too). I love being able to play on my couch. If only the stupid surface screen supported 2560x1440. Stupid high resolutions. :)

Hi Peter,
I've tried all fixes from this thread and nothing works.
I am currently in contact with helpdesk and have been for a few days.
They have asked me to update this thread because you thought it may have
been resolved because of my lack of posts during my ongoing contact with helpdesk.

I am glad I held up on this game at least for now, there should not be these problems discussing resolutions and going into the program and changing this and changing that, I guess this game should only be played by programmers not like people like me who are just happy to see the computer start up correctely.

Disappointed for the moment.

Sorry, there is currently a bug in the game with 1200 x 800 resolution, where the action log window is too small. This will be fixed in the upcoming patch...
