Possible bug: crew with two weapons

Post by UP844 »

In the Advance Segment of the previous Russian turn, I advanced a Crew armed with a Molotov Projector in 3,8 (which contained an unpossessed 85mm AA gun).

In the subsequent Administrative Segment, the Crew recovered the 85mm gun (see image). I suppose this occurred because the Molotov projector is a SW, while the 85mm is a piece of Ordnance?

The save file is the same I attached in the thread about the failure to advance. Skip the Advance & CC segment and see what happens in the subsequent Administrative Segment.

I believe it can possess both the Gun and the SW. You uploaded the image instead of the Save-file so could you check if it fires both or just the Gun/Mol-P in upcoming Fire Segments?

The save file is the same I attached to report the failure to advance in the fortified building, here:

tm.asp?m=4515450

Just skip the Russian Advance and Close Combat segments: the Crew with the MOL projector in the 85mm hex will attempt (most times successfully) to acquire the 85mm.

The crew fired the 85mm (and killed the Pz II). I'm going to try if it can fire the MOL projector.

I unsuccessfully attempted firing both weapons.

When the first one is fired, the Crew status becomes "Final Fire" and if you try to fire the other weapon a window appears, stating that a Crew that arleady fired its inherent FP cannot fire.

This means, however, that I have another unemployed crew that should have acquired the 85mm. The MOL crew was intended to attack the Panzers and become Hero of the Soviet Union (posthumous). Can I transfer one of the two weapons to the other crew?

This is correct. The Crew can possess both the Mol-P and the Gun but can only fire one of them. There is a Transfer Weapon function and it works like this.

1. In the Advancement Segment select both Units and the Weapon that is to bet Transfered.
2. Press the W Key on the Keyboard and the Weapon will be Transfered to the Unit not possessing the weapon.

I'm sorry to bother you so much, but weapon transfer does not work. As soon as I select the Crew with two weapons, I get the warning "Ordnance cannot move in Advance Segment", so I am unable to complete the transfer.

Here is the saved game file:

By the way, I tried transferring a LMG between a HS possessing it and a Squad in hex 3,10 (2 hexes directly south the 85mm), and it didn't work [:(].

There is something wrong with your saved game file UP844, as a personnel unit may only possess 1 weapon at the time (Weapon = support weapon / ordnance)

I'm well aware there is something wrong [;)]: the Crew with the MOL projector recovered the 85mm AA gun in an Administrative segment. I will make some tests to see if I manage to replicate it.

What about the failure to transfer the LMG? [&:]

your whole saved game file is messed up :) Something must have happened to your saved game file and as a result you are seeing whole bunch of stuff going bad.

The saved game attached here:

tm.asp?m=4515450

was taken as soon as I saw the screenshot in the first post of this thread. I am sure the saved game is messed up, but something was also wrong in the game: the last line in the bottom right window is "[RU] Crew recovered [RU] 85mm ZP39 AA in hex [3,8]". Since the Crew was already carrying a MOL projector, it should not have recovered the AA gun.

I made a test scenarios with 10 RU Crew armed with MOL Projector, 10 RU Crew with an 85mm ZP39 AA and 20 SS squads to kill some 85mm crews on the first turn.

The SS killed two 85mm Crews and when I advanced the MOL-P armed crews, they acquired the AA gun (see image below)

Here is the saved game file: I saved it before advancing the two crews in 0,6 and 0,9 in 1,6 and 1,9 respectively.

Try loading the saved game and advancing the two crews. I do not know if this is related to the MOL-P or to the 85mm gun (I will make some additional tests).

Sorry, my mistake. You can only do the transfer in the Administration Segment. It works. I tried your save file.

Thanks Paullus, weapon transfer works fine (in the Admin Segment [;)]).

I think, however, that a crew already possessing a weapon should not be able to acquire an unpossessed piece of Ordnance. Am I right?
