UP844, I have vague memories of my playing days back in the 80's other than I remember it was fun. I was in two camps,
the wargaming camp and the D&D camp. I just liked gaming. Thanks for the feedback. Now back to my next scenario...[:)]

Ever since my girlfriend caught me with my wife it has not been the same. Suddenly I have all this empty time to fill with another TotH scenario...

The Bukrin Bridgehead

50 miles southeast of Kiev, September 24th, 1943: In mid September 1943 Manstein's Army Group South initiated a full scale
retreat along the entire length of its 600 mile front. The plan was to fall back to the west bank of the Dnieper and redeploy
for defense before the Russians could form any bridgeheads across the river. One spot where the race was won by the Red Army
was near the village of Bukrin, where the 3rd Guards Tank Army with the help of partisans crossed in company strength, during
the first hours of September 22nd, reinforcement of the bridgehead was begun forthwith. The Germans immediately rushed the
advance elements of the 19th Panzer Division down from Kiev to seal off this dangerous foothold. On the 24th the Russians
pressed their attack in an attempt to break through the weakly held German defensive line and link up with a simultaneous
paradrop of three Airborne brigades further to the southwest.

Game length: 12 Turns

For the Russians to win they must capture the town of Bukrin by taking 11 VP's of town buildings
For the Germans to win they must defend against the Russian onslaught from the mountains.

Russians: Squads, HMG, MMG's, LMG's, FT's, ATR's, ART Gun, AT Gun, HVY MTR, AFV's, OBA
Germans: Squads, HMG, MMG's, LMG's, DC's, PSK's, MTR, HVY MTR's, AA Gun, PF's, AFV's, OBA

Boards: #2, #4, #5

Aftermath: The combat troops of the recon battalion were hard put to contain the Russian push but by throwing in the supply
and repair units and anyone else who could be scraped up, a near disaster was averted and the situation restored. The line
had held, and although the Russians attempted for several more weeks to effect a breakout, they had effectively bottled up.
They would have to turn elsewhere to crack the Dnieper line.

Front Porsche

Front Porsche

Russia, Ponyri, July 9, 1943
On the north side of the Kursk Salient, General Model's Ninth Army pushed south. A key goal was the city of Ponyri, and there
the fighting was raging. The city was so violently contested that the veterans called it the Stalingrad of the Kursk Salient.
It was not a very original nickname, but it was enough for men engaged in the battle who had little time to consult their
thesauri and history books. Two buildings that had been conquered and reconquered several times were the MTS and school.

Attacker: German Elements of the 9th and 86th Infantry Divisions (all units are Wehrmacht)
Defender: Russian Elements of the 307th Infantry D., the 129th Tank Brigade and the 1442nd Self-Propelled Artillery Regiment

Best played on German SIDE first / with LOS: 26 Hexes / with RULE:Hit First and Be careful to Militia/ with MOD: Yours / etc.

Scenario Length: 9 Game Turns
Victory objective: The side with the required Victory Points is the winner. Both sides gets VPs for owning VP Objectives.
Scenario designer : Lock-n-Load'Men [ Dark July Mod ]

Ok, tks.
I have edited versions of:
'100 Men', 'Wolfs Schloss' and 'Day by The Shore'.

Looks like 'Wolfs Schloss' was an original Matrix scenario, but won't open unless you get rid of the excess radios. Is that ok? Just checking first, coz I don't want to get bumped off the forums!

My edits to a couple of previous scenarios:
100 Men:
> Adjusted German force strength and deployment (too strong otherwise). Most notably, replaced most LMG's with PF's to reflect the danger German troops had become to Allied tanks.
>> One big issue was to move the German deployments far enough away so that they don't magically appear right next to American forces trying to gain positions on the hill! Also turned over some forces to AI only control and pulled their OBA (US OBA remains)
> Changed Victory locations: forces the fighting more into the village per the historical narrative
> Changed VP allocations, again to force fighting into the village proper and also keep the Germans concerned about exposing their AFV's. For a Major victory, the Germans must now, appropriately, almost wipe out the US forces to a man while conserving their own forces!
> Adjusted US leader deployment so they don't stay behind but advance with their troops!

Day by The Shore:
> Removed some of the initial, GB deployment hexes so that German reinforcements don't end up magically appearing right next to GB forces!

Wolfs Schloss:
> Pulled all the OBA. The US are more than strong enough without it, plus there's too many radios, preventing the scenario opening anyway!

Well, Before the world sees it, probably best to contact the designer privately and discuss the issues. I would never
think about changing someone's scenario without their knowledge or input. Its just common courtesy.

If I wasn't so damn busy with Campaign Series I'd be a lot more involved here. Its a hell of a game Tigers on the Hunt!!

rmmwilg thanks for your passion. Your presence here only enriches this forum!

I have also modified uploaded scenarios to correct or make better but I don't re-upload them back to the Forum. Playtesting new scenarios
prior to uploading would take care of most problems but I also know that's time-consuming. There has never been a scenario that I've
playtested that didn't need some modifications even after the 3rd or 4th trial.

Scenarios are not write-protected so you should be able to do whatever changes you want but to upload those changes I would suggest
a note stating that it's a different version of the previous. I've noticed some scenarios have a different version uploaded with a II or a 2
suffix to the scenario name. [:)]

Hi Hailstone. Yeh, I've seen some of those updated ones, in fact having gone on a previous splurge to just download everything, I'm now finding multiple versions of some scenarios and been cleaning out the scenarios folder lately!!
I'll certainly be taking previous advise to contact the original designers in the future, but I would also hope that we can all benefit from a group effort, just as long as it's not done in a judgmental way! I'm just starting play of 'Be My Valentine...', and I appreciate the invite they included to give feedback so as to make it better for everyone including the original designer.
I know it's a lot of work to build something from scratch, and any edits should certainly be given in deference to those efforts!
Love this game!

Here's a simple scenario that I complicated some to make more interesting...

Delaying Action

Western Lithuania, the end of October, 1944: After failing to halt the onslaught of Bagramyan's 1st Baltic Front,
scattered units of the Gross Deutschland Division were ordered to fall back to the northwest and regroup. One evening
during the course of this retreat some three hundred of its men were surprised by a cautiously advancing Russian
infantry regiment. After a short firefight the Russians decided to dig in for the night and initiated their attack at
dawn by advancing a column of tanks from a just arriving armored unit. The Germans however, seeing the tanks, immediately
withdrew, leaving only a small delaying force to cover their rear.

Scenario Length: 6 Turns

To win the Russian armor must exit the board with armored column intact
To win the Germans must inflict as much damage to the Russian armored onslaught heading to attack retreating German Division

Germans: Squads, Half Squads, PF's, PSK's
Russians: AFV's

Board: #4

Aftermath: The delaying force set up three ambush points and straight into them rumbled the tank column, without supporting
infantry. Each ambush group knocked out several tanks but there was never any doubt as to the ultimate outcome of the
encounter, as each was successively and literaly overrun and wiped out. (A few terror-sticken survivors were shortly thereafter
rescued by a counterattack led by two S.S. armored regiments against the Russian flank, which inflicted heavy losses and
recaptured the immediate area for a few days, after which the retreat was resumed.)

Ice Devils

Northwest of Rzhev, Russia, March 25th, 1942: During their first winter in Russia, the Germans suffered along the
whole front from many Soviet counterattacks. The Germans particularly feared the infiltration of ski troops behind
their lines. They were unable to stop this form of attack because their defenses were mainly concentrated around
isolated villages. The 2nd Battalion of the 464th Infantry Regiment took position in a hamlet, trying desperately
to protect themselves from the extreme winter (the outside temperature reached -45 degrees Celsius). Patrols were
organized to control the area and numerous Soviet infiltrations were intercepted. At dawn of March 25th, a hundred
Soviets on skis suddenly appeared from the adjacent forrest. Equipped only with submachineguns and demolition charges,
they moved so quickly that they reached the first buildings before the defenders could react.

Game Length: 8 Turns

For the Russians to win they must capture the village buildings
For the Germans to win they must defend the village

Russians: Squads, LMG's, DC's
Germans: Squads, MMG, LMG's, MTR's

Boards: #5, #24

Aftermath: Many German machineguns jammed because of the extreme cold and furious close combat developed in the buildings.
Heavily laden with explosives, several Soviet soldiers were blown to pieces as their loads exploded. Very aggressively, the
Russians disrupted the first defensive line. In the middle of the morning, G Company counterattacked and reversed the
situation after some violent hand-to-hand combat. All of the Russian soldiers were in fact NCO volunteers, promised
promotions if they took the village. Of the 100 attackers, only 9 surrendered. All of the others were killed.

Eye Of The Tiger

Eye Of The Tiger

Tuckum, Latvia 1944-08-20.
As the Soviet offensive of 1944 swept through Belorussia, it soon reached the borders of Poland and the Baltic countries. On
August 1, the 3rd Russian Mechanized corps of the 51st Army broke through the weakly held German defense lines between Aux and
Mitau. The Russians quickly overcame the scattered German delaying units and reached the town of Tuckum, just a few kilometers
away from the Gulf of Riga. There they met a counterattacking German emergency combat unit, SS Panzer Brigade Gross, consisting
of two weak tank companies made up of old PzIII and IV tanks, the 103rd Heavy Tank Battalion (Tiger tanks) with panzergrenadier
support plus the adhoc 1st SS Armored Recon battalion.

Attacker: German (19th SS Latvian Division, SS-Panzer Brigade Gross)
Defender: Russian (3rd Mechanized Corps)

Best played on German SIDE first / with LOS: 26 Hexes / with RULE:Movie Music/ with MOD: Yours / etc.

Scenario Length: 6 Game Turns
Victory objective: The side with the required Victory Points is the winner. Both sides gets VPs for owning VP Objectives.

This one has become one of my favorites...

The Bridge at Kanev

Kanev, September 23rd, 1943: The Soviet offensive had reached the Dnieper River north of Kanev. Wishing to capture the bridge
in the town the Russians sent a force southwards along the east edge of the river. In their way stood a small German rearguard
set up to delay the Russians long enough to give other Germans units still east of the Dnieper River the chance of crossing
to the safety of the west bank before blowing the bridge.

Game Length: 10 turns

For the Russians to win they must destroy escaping German AFV's and capture the Kanev bridge to continue the advance against
the Germans
For the Germans to win they must allow the few remaining German units to escape across to the west bank of the Dnieper

Russians: Squads, MMG, LMG's, DC's, AFV's
Germans: Squads, MMG, LMG's, PSK's, PF's, DC's, AT Gun, AA Gun, AFV's

Boards: #3, #7

Aftermath: Despite overwhelming superiority of numbers the Russians became disheartened by the heavy losses taken by their
armor and eventually retreated from the conflict altogether. Having repulsed the attack the Germans held on until every unit
possible has crossed to the safety of the west bank. Their engineers then blew the bridge to deny its use to the Russians.
It will always remain one of the mysteries of the war why the Russians made no further attempt to take this vital bridge.
