Oh, I thought all the scenarios lasted until the end of 1815. Are you sure Napoleon didn't die?

Most scenarios last approximately 10 years. We changed that during beta testing.

The 1809, the 1812, and the 1813 scenarios end after the Nov/Dec 1818 turn.

The other scenarios end after approximately 10 years.

Here are the exact figures

1800 Second Coalition - Starts Mar/Apr 1800, ends Nov/Dec 1810.

1805 Dash to the Danube - Starts May/Jun 1805, ends Nov/Dec 1815.

1806 Who's Next? - Starts Jul/Aug 1806, ends Nov/Dec 1816.

1809 Phoenix & Quagmire - Starts Mar/Apr 1809, ends Nov/Dec 1818.

1812 Into Russia - Starts May/Jun 1812, ends Nov/Dec 1818.

1813 Defending the Empire - Starts Jan/Feb 1813, ends Nov/Dec 1818.

What was the reason to shorten the 1800 scenario? Did things tend to go off the rails?

I was disappointed to see that the campaigns end after approximately ten years. I've been playing the 1800 Campaign expecting it to play through to at least 1815. IMO a good future enhancement would be to make the 1800 Campaign a "Grand Campaign" covering the whole era.

Yes, I agree that the 1800 scenario should go 14 or 15 years.

Napoleon's death is an automatic loss IIRC.

So long as you leave 1 Guard unit in reserve, he is immortal.

Playing this campaign and I got the 'US declares war'.
This card may only be played after 1810 (I assume from 1811) so it should be removed from the 1800-deck.
A better solution is of course extending the 1800-campaign to 1815...

The thing is though, if they extend the 1800 campaign to 1815, it will pretty much be the only campaign everyone will play. They wanted the 1805 campaign to be the main one.

We can certainly offer a longer campaign from 1800 - 1815.

My concern was for play balance.

But after further review, this can be done.

On a side note.
Do you guys plan to add more French campaigns starting earlier?
Or maybe add an editor and let players loose...

My experience with playing computer games since the 1990s is that a game system with a good editor may live forever [;)]
Take a look at The Operational Art of War. I created my first scenario back in 1998 and the game is still being developed (kind of...).

One thing that I'll note here is that in playing the 1800 scenario, I got to 1807 or 8 and still only had the starting leader pool. I think I got one leader card, but I drew a 4 or 5 command leader. It really slows the French right down, which I didn't really appreciate until I played the 1805 scenario, where I had lots of good leaders at start. Perhaps a hardcoded event in 1804 or 5 to trigger a quality leader or two?
