I just bought this, but I guess I'll wait a bit to see if this patch comes out before diving in...

Dive in, learn how it works.

Start with the Coral Sea scenario doing both sides until you are comfortable and then move on to the Guadalcanal scenario.

DISBAND TF

Click on yes or no nothing happens.
I can disband by hitting Y key on keyboard only.

ABADAN

Run my mouse over I can see information.
But can do anythiny when I click on area, area doesn't seem to be there, with regards mouse clicking.
I have a clean install and the Beta and I have the same issue. However, if you select Abadan from the list of Allied ports, you can form a convoy and load supplies.

However, you can't load fuel into Tankers for some reason. There's fuel at the port, but no option to load it. I saw this at a couple of other ports too, IIRC, even where the amount of fuel in storage greatly exceeded to port's requirements.

Using the keyboard was put in because some people were accidentally disbanding task forces.

Yes, they were loose and not lost. So they could be picked again at a cost of PPs.

good good good

It has been difficult for me to read the 46 pages of madness about this final patch for what is possibly the best military strategy game of WW2... it is incredible the pressure you have put on the development team for a patch that is completely free and I would say unexpected.

For my part, I have been working hard on the current patch for a few days and although I am aware of almost everything that has been reported, I still enjoy it like a dwarf in a mine

My hype is very high and I only wish that when this final patch comes out, it leaves the game complete and ready to enter the living history of the games.

Many thanks to Matrix Games and everyone for this masterpiece.

waiting.....

I'm not a fan of all theses extra little mouse clicks or key presses in fact I hate the $£^^ things. For all those making the error, don't! it's that simple or do as I do swear or reload. There are many things in the game that you can do accidentily so are they also going to have confirmation buttons.

The next thing will be a confirmation button confirming 'Yes I want to disband this TF'. Get a life.

I don't use a keyboard much to play games. The fingers are getting old. So, having to hit "yes" on the keyboard does become a pain, but I do understand the other side of the coin. Maybe something in the options, so one could choose would work.

I like the confirmation for disbanding a TF, they are at the heart of the game and deserve every click and button they get.
Some more attention would have been nice for land units, the PP cost for organizing unrestricted units is a bit high and might have been eliminated totally.

The last two or three posts here have me a little confused. They sound as though the final patch has been finally released.

Is this true and have I somehow missed something? Or, is this a case of people coming in with wishlist items for the patch?

Could someone who has a handle on the state of affairs (RangerJoe or Gen Patton maybe) advise on this, because as far as I can determine we're still waiting for "soon" to happen.

Thanks.

We are still waiting on Matrix to finish.

GSP, I have been playing this game again after a few years' break, and am moved to dig an oar in the water here.

Mouse clicking the 'Yes' button, when you hadn't thought properly about all aspects of disbanding a task force, is an indicator of sloppy play. The removal of it from the UI is a sop to sloppy play.

I have clicked it, to no effect, hundreds of times in the last few weeks, and have been forced to pause my wider thought processes while I go looking for the Y key. The fact that this code change has been made without changing the UI - which still visually invites a left-click, consistently with the other pop up boxes - is irritating to the point of infuriation.

AE is a game for serious thinkers, who pay attention to what they are doing. It is a strategic/operational level game, not a tactical one, the game's algorithms handle that. It is not a game for sloppy people. There are many actions that require a mouse click in a yes/no pop up box. This should remain one of them.

Please put it back the way it was.

Perhaps somewhere in this thread this has been answered already, but what exactly does Matrix have to do that is taking so long? Is it simply so low on the totem pole that they will get around to it when they get around to it, or are there technical challenges that have to be overcome? Not so much complaining as curious as to how the process works. Thanks.

As issues in the final build are addressed often new issues crop up in the process of trying to correct them. Plus, they're dealing with a code that is decades old and not all the original code-writers are still around and available for answering questions. This likely leads to a lot of time consuming bug hunts that have to be done in the hunter's spare time as this is not a paying project.

Ok, I guess it was my undestanding from GP's posts from late June and mid-July that everything was done and just submitted to Matrix for final approval. Are you saying that Matrix itself is still working on code fixes/bugs?

As far as I can tell from following the timeline for the last few months it has been sent to Matrix for some time and apparently issues keep coming up in testing that have to be resolved. So I assume it goes back into the shop for more work. Either that or it's in some sort of gray area where Matrix has it parked in their garage but the original devs are still tinkering under the hood in whatever time they can spare.

This is all speculation on my part, as details are kinda scanty in this thread.
