Actually, we're going back and forth with Matrix trying to get the build perfect.
Its no longer about the code or the data for the game.
Its about making sure we have exactly the correct versions of each necessary file in the build. And this has turned out to be harder that I expected.
But we are definitely "almost done".
A few more weeks.

Thank you Joe and team for going the extra mile on these "file matching" expeditions.
Frankly, it was one of those aspects I dreaded after release...
I can only imagine how utterly tedious this work is for you guys. Please know that it is VERY MUCH appreciated. I am looking forward to the end product!

As someone who has waited a looooong time for this update, I am wondering if it will be a patch to the original program, or a standalone all-in-one update? I ask because I am going to reinstall and and wondering if I can go ahead and install the original AE and if I need to install any of the prior patches before installing the new patch. Thanks.

It's going to be an update just like 1126a was. I hope that answers your question....GP

So, we will install it on top of a fresh AE, or on top of 1126a?

I'm pretty sure it will work either way. I am using 1126a which I installed over 1125a (IIRC). The new Beta 1127 may tweak the game engine a bit too, so once installed it would not be quite the same as other patches which did not change the game exe file.

For this update, I would consider doing a fresh installation, then update, then either SeaBee or just copy and paste the switches that work.

It would be really useful to get a definitive answer on whether the final patch can be applied on top of a fresh original disk install - or not and whether that is the recommended procedure by the Devs.

Matrix has an opportunity here to nip a whole lot of community angst and teeth-gnashing post patch release in the bud.
If the above final patch over original disk install is viable, then:

1. I would think that a clean install is a MUST for multiple reasons, foremost eliminating edge cases due to multiple previous patches and mods. Vets have dealt with reinstalling any mods, etc. enough to not care and new players should not have to think about it.
2. One Matrix-recommended way to install, no deviations, period.
3. For the final patch, just eliminate the whole .2x version naming convention. Make the final patch start with xx.30 or higher. It will help new buyers to avoid confusing themselves about which patch is latest and avoid wallowing amongst the 26a's, b's and 27's from the past on the website.

As to the question about the details of how the installer will work, I'll have to defer to Matrix to answer that question. They create the final official installer.
The way we've been testing is to copy the update files on top of a clean install of the last production version (which you would download if you bought the game). But the final Matrix installer may automate this process. They will have to speak to those details.

As to our status, we thought we had it this time, but alas found 3 more data issues and we felt 2 of them required correction before release, so we're fixing all three. Otherwise, the tests passed.
Getting closer and closer.

  2. Firing 18 inch Naval Gunfire support close. As far as I know, these were never used for Naval Gunfire support.
  3. Firing 75mm HE round close.
  4. Firing a 50 cal round close.
  5. Firing a colt 45 round close.
  6. Firing a BAR rifle round close. You are stuttering, BAR is Browning Automatic Rifle, so you wrote "Rifle rifle!" ;)
  7. Firing a M1D with a M84 scope close.
  8. Firing with a M2 Flamethrower close. Just gasoline or napalm? There is a difference!
  9. Stabbing with a M4 bayonet close.
You forgot the M18A1 claymore close.
You forgot the M67 close.
