LRCAP of naval ships with Army aircraft vs. Navy aircraft

Post by Chickenboy »

Like a lot of other esoterica about this game, I *vaguely* remember that LRCAPing a naval TF with army aircraft (USAAF or IJAAF) was less efficient or more prone to mishaps than LRCAPing a naval TF with naval aircraft (USN / USMC or IJNAF). Can someone point me in the right direction if I'm correct or dissuade me if I'm incorrect?

CB;

I didn't find anything definitive, but here are some of Alfred's previous comments on LRCAP.

From my personal experience, I haven't seen much, if any, difference between IJA and IJN LBA coverage of my fleets. Air group HQ, in range, group commander ... these variables seem to be FAR more relevant than IJA vs IJN. What I'm saying is that if IJN vs IJA is in the equation somewhere, it's impact is far less than group HQ or Group Commander influence or a host of other variables (exp, fatigue, range from base, % range of AC, .....

hope this helps. and those old threads are fun to read in any case .... I mean Major Mike!!!!! (then, of course he retired as Lt Bird AFAIK)
