I just noticed in .26b that engineers still provide aviation support if they are in strategic move mode. They won't construct, but they will refuel/repair/rearm planes. Is that as design or a bug?

That is probably a feature . . .

Just to elaborate, Aviation support is given by Aviation Support squads, not engineering squads.

Correct, but they still work if in strat mode rather than combat mode.

I think he was referring to the Unit type when he said Engineers. But it is good that you specified the distinction at the squad level.

It is bit weird that Aviation Support does work in strategic mode, as pointed out, since engineers don't.

I don't know if it wasn't intentional - Alfred or one of the programmers pointed out they will repair aircraft when in rest mode too! They didn't seem concerned with changing that.

Engineers need a lot of equipment while air support might just need a screwdriver or a wrench. Maybe not even that for the weapons - just setting the head space and timing might do the job for one commonly used weapon.

I would imagine though that replacing missing sections of wing, changing a shot up engine or sealing punctured tires takes a bit more than just a screwdriver. :D

Yes, those things probably would need more than a screwdriver. But adjusting a carburetor may not need more than a screwdriver.

But on an aircraft, a punctured tire would be replaced but not repaired.

You can send more troops or allow the units there to take reinforcements.

I kind of wonder if you are mis-reading the number. At the beginning of the campaign game Rangoon's garrison number is 211/120 which puts you in the green. If you had an insufficient garrison there the number would be displayed in red.

If the Japanese are coming, evacuate Rangoon so the partisans will destroy things for the Japanese to fix.

I sent my troops to Pegu to block the Japanese.

They can no longer move forward.

Since the partisans only damage base facilities, you should retreat back to Rangoon afterward and fight there to damage the industries.

A player could also have bombers ready to attack cities with a range set so that Rangoon will be targets immediately after the Japanese capture it but before they bring in Aviation Support for their air units which may not yet have moved in.

Hi,

I want to transport troops to take atolls with a submarine. I can't load troops.

Thanks for your advise.
