Sorry to hear of his passing.  I wished he had lived many more years to tell important truths.  My copy of We Were Soldiers Once and Young includes a photo of a very young Major Schwartzkopf leading a South Vietnamese army patrol.  He was the real deal.

It is a great loss. I had friends that knew him when he ran CentCom and some that served under him during the war. They all spoke very highly of him and said you knew you were in the presence of a true leader.

I was in the same room with the General many years ago for a Veteran's Day gathering; and it didn't take long to realize he was a true leader.
