Refresh Needed - Japanese Start in '41

Post by The Duke »

So I finally bought AE this week, not having played WiP for four or five years. Played a lot back then but memory is rusty and not sure how AE changed gameplay.

Wanting to start up a new full campaign match as the Japanese, looking for a thread reference and/or tips on the fundamental day 1 toggles (halt/cancel Mushashi, convert air groups, industry, ship conversions, etc) that are needed to sustain a competitive KB into 43 or 44, etc. with the understanding there is probably various opinions but also some obvious consensus on strategy.

Big ask obviously, but appreciate any help pointing me in the right direction as I work to get the rust off. Thanks-

In The War Room there is a sticky on the top with FAQ/Info for Newbies. A lot of the right threads are there. (Not sure how to post the link).

Also search for Kull - poster who in many signatures has a link to Setup Spreadsheets for both sides. I believe they refer mostly to scenario one starting forces, but it gets you a long way into setting up ship/troop/air units - especially in China. Most of the econo-notes are plans for the first 30 days or so. You can't afford to do all the expansion/build/changes listed on day one - so prioritize that part.

Very helpful spreadsheet for me and helped me "get my head around" the whole first turn planning.

Gotta find an AAR to read too. You can do it while your starting your game. The right one will help immensely. For a Scen 1 stock game I would recommend Mike Solli's. Cribtop also had a good one. I've been reading both and it made a world of difference.
