Unofficial patch

Post by michaelm75au »

Hi
While waiting for the 'last' official path, I have dropped in the 'unofficial' beta patch.
Just unzip into the game folder. Suggest saving the old files first.

That is a version without the 'use large addressing' option.
During some testing earlier, we found that the AE wouldn't run for some users with Win 11. Turning off the flag and the EXE worked fine.
So I'm throwing both versions out there in case others can't get the normal AE to run.

It is the same executable just with the option flag disabled.

Can you tell us if there will be more than 9 changes in the official patch?

Is the patch good to use in an ongoing campaign?

I honestly don't know. The updates were done earlier this year in anticipation of the final 'official' patch, but as that seems to be have stagnated, I have dropped in these changes now.

Should be. No change to the save structures.

This is great to see the few remaining issues cleaned up.

So, just to be clear, zero-range pilot training will now be subject to ops losses?

EDIT: Here's the change list from the download:

V1.01.27– 05 March 2022 (Game version shown as 1.8.11.27)

1. Ninth Update – This release is a comprehensive release updating all previous versions to v1.01.27
2. Code Changes
1. Naval support not present at 0(0) port once port is built up
2. Another underway ammo replenishment issue if AE unable to reload the biggest weapon on ship
3. Drawing ship a/c from pool at base uses replacement group if nearby
4. Tweak what is an 'instructor' for TRACOM purposes and allow casualties to them
5. Tweak group training mission not getting many op losses for low experience pilots (increased fatigue of low experienced pilots and aircraft)
6. Aircraft upgrading to blank airframe
7. Mines not removed from ships in non-ML taskforce
8. Repair/maint of seaplane not expending supply (1 point per plane from tender supply if more than seaplane support at base). Exceeding support did expend normal supply.
9. Added confirmation to ‘Disband TF’ button

Cheers,

Is the disband TF box supposed to be Y or N key only? I've been unable to click on either choice. I guess I'm unsure of how other people play their games, I frequently disband entire TFs for repairs and such so it slows down the flow a little. Do people as a normal practice keep their TF's intact when at a base?

Typically, it's only done if you have spent PP's to assign a TF leader who was not the ship captain of the largest ship in the TF. If you disband it, you will have to pay the PP's again when you form a new one to assign the same TF leader to it.

This feature was asked for because the disband button is right next to the dock/undock button and it easy to hit the disband button instead of the dock/undock button.

Interesting, I guess I never thought much of the PP to re-assign a admiral whenever I'd create a new TF.

Yeah I don't mind the feature, I just wish I was able to select it with the mouse. When forming task forces etc, I don't think I ever use the keyboard for anything else. I'll adjust I'm sure.

The other way to do it is to transfer all but one ship to the base. Keeps the leader and also keeps the TF number. Not sure this is needed.

You're exactly right, Chris. That is the way to keep your TF leader and number. This patch change adds a confirmation check for people who accidentally click the Disband button when trying to click one near it. I've personally not had much problem with this, so not sure what my opinion of the confirmation click would be.

I have just updated the game. Please add the option to click the "Yes/No" with the mouse.
