Old Timers

Post by Big B »

Having visited today on the forum after several years, I was just curious how many old-timers (since at least 2009) are left here?

I've had a couple of different monikers due to account issues, but I've been here since the beginning (meaning UV-days).

Present and accounted for. I started the game in july of 2009, joined up in jan 2010. Hope that counts....GP

I also played the board game version of WitP and the computer version. Plus there were the long time waiting turns in WPO....GP

I started here with the predecessor game to Admiral's Edition. Everyday I still want my W-I-T-P.

I started with the Victory Games version (yes a board game) back in the late 70s, does that mean I'm an old timer????

In little over 2 weeks I'll have done 20 years on Matrix. Started gaming it the 1971 my first experience was with Jim Dunnigan board game USN, by SPI. I have it still but sadly up in the loft and not seen the light of day for years.

I've just realised that's 50 years ago!

I am still here, I purchased WITP when it was first available but wife and kids kept me from it. I then purchased WITP-AE when it was available but started doing a lot of beta testing for folks and never got to play it. I just started about a year an a half ago and am slowly learning the system. lol

My game disk says I bought this game in April 2011 and I joined the Forum in 2014.
So I’m just a young pup yet.

A lot of the real interesting old timers are gone now. Matrix ran some of them off.

Although I suspect there are a number of very good players who have
never made a single post on this forum.

True and forum is no more the same from then.

But i think this is not a game and a community that can be easily forgotten particularly from
the many who loved and contributed so much to WitpAE developement.

I like to imagine that everyone of them who don't write anymore here will always read this forum and that
they could be back, particularly now , beeing moved by the attempts that other less experienced players do trying to
have this final release the better it coud be.

To all them a big hug wherever they are ..........

( .....and a post less to 1.000.000 target )

I've been playing WITE as of late but still read and plan on firing up AE soon to continue on with the campaign.

A sad but true fact is that many have simply passed on and died, Wild Bill, Steve, John and Charles are a few I know who have left this earth, they were all 10-25 years older than me. Time waits for no one, from ashes to ashes and dust to dust, may they all Rest In Peace.

So true. And many others have just retired from gaming as they slow down. Don Bowen was on the forum this year and gave away all of his books to us before leaving. Made me sad. He contributed so much.

I started out young with PacWar and UV in my college days and here I still am with WITPAE in my forties. Have seen many come and go for a variety of reasons. Life happens. Not many games last generations as this one does and after this final patch a game like this will probably never be made again with all of these super knowledgeable contributors leaving us...
