I know the following came about with a previous discussion but just to clarify.

Once you upgrade exchange between types and pay the PP costs the group will still follow the original upgrade path hence you have to pay PP costs each and every time you deviate from the original groups type.

For example Idas to Sallys = 75 PP
Sallys to Sally II (or whatever) = another 75 PP

Is this correct and WAD?

thanks
Pat

Tweak Allow upgrade exchange between FB/LLB/DB at a PP cost - CAS type intermix (requested by OOB designer) [MEM]
Fixed Some level bomber switches not costing PPs [MEM]

Michael, please, oh, please can we get all the beta updates released in an official patch soon?  [&o][&o][&o]

I'm dying to get my hands on so many of the new features and functions, but my partner and opponent are not willing to install anything, just because it has the word beta attached to it.

Hi USS America,

I shared the worry about the dreaded "Beta".  Then I installed it to a test version of the game.  Wow!  What a remarkable set of valuable improvements it offers.  On top of that, it is stable.

Ask your chums to take the plunge.  I see no real risk.  (Create a new version of the game.  Install the beta.  Load the saved file and drool at all the grand improvements.  Your friends can go back to the offical version if they wish, but I but they won't)  :-)

No reason to stop any improvements! Just take the latest 1108xx beta, do some official testing on it, and release it as an official update. Then the "beta's" can continue with 1109xx or whatever the next version would be numbered.

I'm no scared at all, I'm drooling and dying to get the new stuff up and running in my game. Sadly, there are 4 of us involved, and it's split 2 - 2, with those opposed strongly opposed to moving to it. [:(]

Do you really think there will be another official update after the next one? Let Michael do as much Beta as he wants to! [8D]

Not sure about this one and no biggy but the range rings for an ASW patrol are not correct. They show the normal range of the aircraft. I'm 1% sure that at some stage they did change to the ASW range when an ASW patrol was set up.

When you uses betas there is always a risk. We had a beta at the start of the year which had problems and that can happen every time. Not every gamer wants or has the time to monitor every beta develpoment and release to see what was changed or tweaked and what can come next. Sometime this beta cycle should be closed and with a proper documentation an official patch should released. And after this patch a new cycle can start.

It uses the shorter ASW range when showing search arcs.

Bump. Anyone have any ideas?
ORIGINAL: byron13

G'day!

1. Downloaded the latest upate. When I run it to try and install, I get a "can't find PW data" message or something to that effect. Am I running the wrong folder or what?

2. I installed the update that was current 3 weeks to a month ago and started a new game. Also started using the cpu command in startup. From the moment I did this, the night portion of the turn execution suddenly started dragging. The night portion takes about as long as the day portion now. If I try and scroll the screen while a combat result is displayed, it takes forever to scroll almost as if there was very little memory. After clicking "done" on a combat result, it takes about five seconds for the result box to disappear. Any ideas?

3. Finally: what art, map, or game mods are a must have? Not interested in anything to difficult to install or uninstall, but if it improves gameplay, I'm interested.

With all due respect, I think the update needs to be released ASAP.
With the length of your average game, I've tried to wait for the update to start new games. I've since started two.
I would like to play with this update before my next game starts (or before I retire, whichever comes first)

The Beta is fully available to you. If you and/or your opponent decides not to use the Beta that is your decision, not Michael's.

Hello michaelm, it would be possible to adjust the map movement in smaller scenarios (Guadalcanal, Coral Sea)? If I use higher resolution (1680x1080 at Coral Sea or 1900x1200 at Guadalcanal scenario), so when I move the map, the map jumping from the left to right side as they followed the individual corner hexes. Thanks!

Use the editor to increase the size of the playing field by two hexes east and west. Save under a name/number you'll remember. It works for me![8D]

Michael looks like the max pilot error I had previously is back or wasn't fully fixed. Also the month end seems to have some part in the problem as I was running fine under the betas since 1108q9c seemed to fix it & was running r3 for a couple of days & I could get pilots but now I can't & the max pilot now seems to be closer to a/c unit size than the 20% overage I had problems w/ before. I've attached my 4/30/45 & 5/1/45 turns. Take a look at 58thFG/201stFS at PM on 4/30 you can get a pilot but not on 5/1. Also look at VMF213 & VMF216 that come in on 5/1, you can only add 1 pilot to these units whereas you should be able to add pilots to get to 24. My pilot status in loading each turn in Tracker has the following

4/30 5/1
Total 33094 33117
Active 27615 27646
WIA 24 21
MIA 26 26
KIA 107 100
Inactive 4303 4305
Delayed 1019 1019

4/30 turn
