To see how many BBs sank, check on the number of float planes destroyed on the ground. They carry 2 of them.

Thanks, time to learn wich FP are used for the main Allied ships then [:D]

USN BBs carry OS2U-3 Kingfishers, USN CAs and CLs carry SOC-1 Seagulls

Thanks and welcome!

At start, it varies - some BBs still have Seagulls too (range 5). But the Kingfishers become available in such numbers that all ships can have the Kingfisher (range 6) by around May of 1942. The British Walrus FP has a range of 5. The Dutch CLs have their own FP that can be replaced with a Kingfisher IIRC. Once CVEs become plentiful, most of the FPs are removed from British and Australian/NZ cruisers during upgrades.

I guess I missed something, it sure looks like all the BBs have Kingfishers to me.

Apologies - things morphed in my old head - it's the CAs that have a mixture of the two FP types. Since the BBs normally end up too damaged to use for a long time, I would have had little reason to look at their FPs. You can bring out the fish now ...

I did a little of homework for my future reference:

USN
OS2U-3 Kingfisher for BB
SOC-1 Seagull for CA/CL

NZ/British
Walrus II

AUS
Seagull V

Dutch
CXI-W

Now, I just have to sink them [:D]

Turn 2

Post by OnWargaming »

China
Enemy troops at Kweisui, Paotow will share the same fate pretty soon.
My precious Mongol units are safe and I can use them for the garrison duty freeing the 26th Division.
Ichang has been abandoned as well.

Kwangchowan spontaneously joins the Japanese cause.

Malaya
Most of the action was here, several SS attacks from both side and most of them missed the target (I lost one xAK with supply, one big AMC + one small xAP on the Allied side).
Force Z is around Kuantan, my Betty tried to attack these ships but flew unescorted and got intercepted by enemy Buffalo. I don't know if it was a bait for my bombers or he is trying some very aggressive move, we shall see.

Kota Bharu was taken with heavy enemy losses, my previous ground bombardment inflicted high disruption on them, 8th Indian Brigade is still alive but pretty useless.

Philippines
Catalina on naval attack made a great job and sunk one xAK with a good amount of support troops of my 14th Army HQ, another xAK is in big trouble with a ENG unit onboard.
I checked my air groups settings and I quickly discovered that I forgot to put a LRCAP on my TF [:'(]

A big air battle on the skies of Manila, he put all his fighters on CAP but my bombers were heavily escorted, about 40 P-40E shot down against 9 Zero, I think his air defence has been eliminated (if no reinforcements will arrive but I doubt he will bring others A/C here).

Turn 3-4

Post by OnWargaming »

Borneo
Well, my opponent made a very good move sending his Force Z to intercept my Miri TF, four encounters in a row and all my ships have been sunk!
I totally missed the movement at flank speed and his attack range, lesson learned!
Unfortunately in two turns not a single naval attack by my bombers at 11-14 hexes away.

Philippines
We intercepted a few xAK fleeing away, nothing big.
My invasion force is unloading at Vigan, Legaspi has been taken and several troops are ready to march towards Manila.

Hong Kong
First attack reduced fortifications at 2.

Pacific
Guam invaded.
