I googled Kai-eilanden and a wiki article was the first result. A Dutch wiki article, that is. Cap, I think your the first American to care about this place in a long time.

Man in fine linen slacks: <on phone> Wait, say that again. You left the "I" out of all the islands in the Dutch East Indies?
.......
You have GOT to be kidding me!
.......
No we are NOT reprinting 2000 maps. We'll fix it on the next edition. Any idiot could figure it out...............

RE: Hearts and Minds
This brings up my theory of impaired global domination by stupid language handicaps.
I think Mandarin is way up there.
Aztec is too but they had other serious handicaps (no horses, no gunpowder, building capital in mosquito infected swamp)
Then there is Vietnamese. They are smart as Hell but who can pronounce "Nguyen"?
Rome (latin). While they were trying to teach the decelentions, the Visigoths, who wiped their behinds wine pine branches, kicked there asses
I now think the Dutch might be fifth.
Finnish would probably be fifth but they were never going to amount to anything anyway

Maj. Walseth
With a 95 aggression rating in the game I figured he was a historical figure
First Tank Battalion
Fwd Ech,
Commanding Officer--Maj Harvey S. Walseth
Anyone know the backstory?

You realize the native speakers laugh at you every time you say that, big nose. [:'(]
They are just too polite to say anything when you are around.

<wakes up in morning after vodka wears off>
Look, I hope I wasn't out of line about dishing on the Dutch. Y'all are a nice bunch. And tall, too. Fact is we Mandrake's have some "Lower Dutch" in the woodpile...sort of..he was actually a French Huguenot who moved to Holland to escape persecution then Dutchified his name.
Truth be told, "Island" is kind of a stupid word too.
The Finns...it's just all the vowels. [;)]
And the native Latin speakers...mea culpa. ROMANES EUNT DOMUS

I'm not taking back what I said about the Aztecs....I'm just not.

Why won't Maj Walseth attack? 95 Aggression rating. Santa Maria! Maybe he isn't very good at paperwork but if anyone is going to attack you would think it would be this guy. This has put the conquest of Japan behind by two days.

RE: Hearts and Minds
For AE, I made sure that all the USA and USMC division commanders were in the data base, as well as (at least) the most significant regimental commanders for the separate regiments and marine battalions. Generally, if a leader has a first name, (i.e. "MG Blank, Jos.") he was added in AE.
I did not add/review Maj. Walseth. He appears to be a carryover from WitP. He is a historical figure, who first fought in Guadalcanal. He was a division staff officer in Korea and apparently sometimes commanded ad hoc units or columns as the Marines fought their way to friendly lines. A quick google search suggests that he was alive in 2011 to celebrate his 100th birthday.

Chokai is claimed to have been sunk in the run-in with the old USN BB's. One IJN DD sunk by a "collision"..that would be rich.
The sub patrols east of Formosa are finally starting to bear fruit.
One IJN sub allegedly sunk by a mine at Saumlaki even though we don't have mines there. Hmmm?

That is where it sunk .. not where it ran into the mine necessarily it could have been damaged severly and then found its final resting place ..

I think I see the problem - every man is carrying twice his own weight in supplies. Perhaps they captured some Dutch hooch that was left behind when the islands were abandoned? That would explain the 7 disruption ...ORIGINAL: Cap Mandrake

Perhaps they use drums or maybe signal by blowing conch shells. They warned us to not blow conchs when I was in Navy boot camp. Or was it? Oh never mind, it will come to me after a martini.
