RE: Econ 101 - Draft 2
That's interesting Mike, especially once you have drained most of it. I will have to look into it.
RE: Econ 101 - Draft 2
Mike - I agree. I saw this document as a beginning to resource haulage and that after a while (when ports supersized) that adjustments should be made. I should include this and other thoughts I've had since I first wrote this.ORIGINAL: Mike Solli
Damian, I'm finally working my way through this document. Very nice stuff. So far, one comment:
Page 7 – Resource Storage and Flows – You turn on resource storage at Sapporo. Why not turn it on instead at Hakodate? I like to ship all resources and oil from Sakhalin to Hokkaido (oil from Shikuka to Sapporo and resources from Toyohara to Wakkani). Then I turn on resource and oil storage at Hakodate. That way I can ship both from Hakodate to Ominato – a two hex distance. Increase those two ports to size 7 and you can move a lot of stuff in a short amount of time. It’ll minimize the amount of shipping you need here.
Thanks for your input.

I do, I do. Bookmarked and everything. I'm going to have to go through it twice at least.ORIGINAL: CarnageINC
Giving this wonderful thread a bump for us new/restarting Japanese players. I'm sure Larryfulkerson will want to see this to. Thank you for giving me something to build upon [;)].

Damian, you need to link this thread in your sig. Without bumping and people recommending it, I would have never found it! [&o]

Damien -
It is always difficult for a very knowledgeable player to condense and present a vast amount of information in a succinct, logical and understandable manner - especially when the target audience may be very new to AE. Your document has accomplished that and does it well - a very real skill that I suspect comes from years of teaching.
What has already been done has been exceptionally useful. It would take yet more time and serious effort - in addition to Real Life, to update or expand your document. However I have no doubt that you will eventually do it, as you and Floyd have had an enormous impact on AE with your collaborative AE Tracker - which is absolutely outstanding. Anyone willing to invest hundreds (thousands?) of hours in creating and maintaining Tracker will not settle for anything short of excellence in any project he started.
And:
Floyd - I am very much remiss in not earlier acknowledging your contribution as the other half of the Tracker Team. Thank YOU, Sir.
Gents, your work always has that stamp of excellence that makes one stand out - and is readily recognized by the rest of us.

I second the vote for a sticky in the war room! I agree not every guide can be stickied as it would make the forums extremely difficult to follow, but this piece
of work is easily more fundamental than my coordination guide, as it describes how to keep the more difficult to play side smooth and running.
As a complete IJ industry ignoramus this doc has already helped me a lot in understanding the concept.
It is a very important contribution to the PBEM community - which is always is short of Japanese opponents.

RE: JEcon 101 setup pre-final Doc
This looks really interesting but the dropbox link is broken and I can only download the word doc called "Draft". Any chance someone can repost the "Final" version?

RE: Japan Econ 101 setup Draft Doc
Howdy. Can't get it to work at this end. Must be all that high speed Korean internet you are getting.
All I get is this :
Error (404)
We can't find the page you're looking for. Check out our Help Center and forums for help, or head back to home.
Doesn't matter, got the draft version anyway so all good. Its going straight to the pool room this one.
Cheers

The first two links work fine - the two game files (005.pws and 006.pws) generate "file not found", however. (At long last I'm working on the Japan version on the AE-setup spreadsheet, and plan to rely HEAVILY on your efforts here!)
RE: JEcon 101 setup pre-final Doc
Hi Kull - glad to see you back! Try now - somehow they got deleted from my dropbox folder... I've restored what I think are the correct files.ORIGINAL: Kull

That did it! Both links work fine. Never really left, but my Allied game vs. the AI reached a stasis point, so it seemed like a good time to delve into the workings of the Japanese game. Oh.my.god. Your work here is much appreciated!
RE: JEcon 101 setup pre-final Doc
Got more to do regarding Oil and Fuel transportation (hubs and ship use), as well as a few other areas that people have asked for. These save files are just economic and nothing strategic in nature. Please comment when you have time. I'd also look At Mr. Solli's work which is invaluable as well as a thread here about Ak use.ORIGINAL: Kull

RE: JEcon 101 setup pre-final Doc
First question. Spreadsheet is populated with the Tracker data, and there are 110 rows for Japanese Manpower centers. Reviewing your document, I don't see any mention of this category. Is this just something that can be ignored? Can't say I can recall ever hearing somebody complain about running out of troops....
