Supply in North Africa

Post by Dr. Foo »

I had some trouble keeping units supplied from Tobruk to Alexandria. Even with trucks and planes they lost a lot of combat power. Is this intentional, a supply bug or am I doing something wrong?

Has any consideration been given to a supply depot counter? I like Decision Game,s War in Europe you could create a supply chain from depots away from railroads or hubs. It worked really well in North Africa and in Russia.

Pretty sure this is working as intended and shouldn't be changed. Getting to Alexandria isn't going to be easy and probably shouldn't ever happen short of some kind of coup de main. If the British turtle up and use the Qattara depression to cover their southern flank, then they are going to be very hard to dislodge.

On the other side of the fence, wait until you invade France and try to support the Allied armies deep into the interior. You really, really need to take a level 9 port badly or you will run out of juice. If the Germans turtle up in Marseilles and Amsterdam they can bring the Allies to a grinding halt. So this works both ways.

It is as intended. You can't dump a mountain of Troops in North Africa. You need to take other bases or use a bit of baiting.

OK, thanks! Yeah, even though I have the Brits out numbered it's not easy to dislodge them. I thought about trying for Lebanon but with the Royal Navy in the med that's just not an option.

Great design! I'm glad it is as intended.

Speaking of North Africa, gotta give kudos for the AI scripting. As allies I brought 4 large inf and 1 armor and busted through Tobruk after some sustained attacking and on to Bengazi. I thought it was all over in North Africa, but the AI withdrew just ahead of my advance saving his German armor and Italian mech and turtled up near the depression south of Bengazi, which stopped me cold as the position cannot be flanked. Gonna take a serious buildup of lots of air power to crack the position, so was pleasantly surprised to see the AI stump me for now.
