Warplan 2 wishlist

Re: Warplan 2 wishlist
An optional repair phase...so the player can fix or upgrade what they want rather than the more random system.
Possible units being built over turns rather than all paid for at once.
This would be huge for ships...Pay Total Cost/Turns to produce each turn.
Then you could pause production like they did in reality.
This is tougher for air / land but could be done.
Ship repairs requiring shipyards.
This might cause new ships being "delayed"
When a unit is disbanded allow the disband to be used as full repair at the experience level IF desired.
Disband a 8 / 20 infantry at exp 72%...you get 8 infantry points for repairing other infantry with 72% exp.
Many heavily damaged divisions were merged with others later in the war to bolster them...then again IF the new rule is a unit can only be a max say 30/30 it could have say 6 5/10 divisions in it....that would work.

A trap check, or at least a report of the number of reloads. And a check that both players in a PBEM have the same mod.
My native language is Spanish, and no English language mastery, sorry.
Re: Warplan 2 wishlist
As discussed in the WPP forum, a port size requirement to repair big ships like BB, CVL or CV. Simulating the need of dry docks. Floating dry docks for US navy.
By the way, is it possible to sticky this thread?

Going global, I am worried of one thing. How do you prevent all UK carriers to go in the Pacific on Dec 1941? Basically why historically UK had so many carriers in the Atlantic and in the Med?
Ideas?
Ideas?

Re: Warplan 2 wishlist
Because if they don't Italy runs rampant in the med and you risk losing the middle east and the German subs destroy your convoys and your production goes down the tubes. seems like keeping Britain safe and the economy going would be more important then the pacific which is definitely a secondary theater for the UK well really its secondary for all but Japan right?
Re: Warplan 2 wishlist
I hope invisible fleets will be everywhere and that CVs will be need for spotting enemy fleets or subs. This way, this will oblige Allies player to keep CVs in the Atlantic / Med.generalfdog wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 3:23 am Because if they don't Italy runs rampant in the med and you risk losing the middle east and the German subs destroy your convoys and your production goes down the tubes. seems like keeping Britain safe and the economy going would be more important then the pacific which is definitely a secondary theater for the UK well really its secondary for all but Japan right?

Is it planned to include free French?

Re: Warplan 2 wishlist
partisans in Yugoslavia, and correct partisans in the pacific the spawn distance wasn't adjusted for the pacific scale, and it should be it would make China much more difficult to hold, and Yugoslavia is a joke it needs LOTS of partisans! and how about partisan HQs that become supply sources and can liberate a country reverting it to original owner? maybe you could combine 3 units to make a hq? that way there would be a serious issue with ignoring partisans instead of now where they just run out of supply and die. They should at least always be in supply
Re: Warplan 2 wishlist
Agree for more partisans in Yugoslavia. Just one thing, in WITE2, partisans are not on the map. They are inside a theater box. So players are investing here but there are no direct fighting on the map.

Re: Warplan 2 wishlist
How does that work? do you use Partisan points to destroy rail lines or what? is wite2 a good game?
Re: Warplan 2 wishlist
That would work for anti-partisan operations in France and the USSR, but Yugoslavia is a special case. Starting in 1943 Tito's partisan army had brigade size units forcing the Germans and Italians to commit several division against them. By late 1944, the total forces of the Partisans numbered 650,000 men and women organized in four field armies and 52 divisions, which engaged in conventional operational warfare. Tying down up to 25 Germans divisions.
As the game stands now the Axis doesn't have to garrison Yugoslavia with even one unit. I know WarPlan is suppose to be a more of game than a historical simulation, but something like this does degrade the historical immersion that some players enjoy.

Re: Warplan 2 wishlist
I have new ideas on partisans that don't involve physical units but do disrupt supply yet not cripple a whole front.

Re: Warplan 2 wishlist
You put units in a separate box to counter partisans. If there are not enough troops to contain them, you are losing freight and the interdiction on-map can increase. Hard to explain quickly what it does but manual is available to everyone if you are interested.generalfdog wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 2:36 amHow does that work? do you use Partisan points to destroy rail lines or what? is wite2 a good game?
WITE2 is a very detailed game. I am just discovering it and there is a lot to learn. Too early for me to give an opinion but playing both Warplan games, this is clear the time investment is not the same.

Re: Warplan 2 wishlist
A very valid point indeed. I think that after Yugoslavia surrenders, it should be possible to build a new army. The problem is how to supply them. Or, just cancel the need to supply.Lascar wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 3:51 pmThat would work for anti-partisan operations in France and the USSR, but Yugoslavia is a special case. Do you have information on how Tito’s army was supplied (weapons, ammunitions, …)?

Re: Warplan 2 wishlist
Early on they were getting weapons and support from the UK. Obviously low amounts via air drops. This increased considerably when the Allies were advancing into Italy and opened up the Adriatic for sending additional support. Soviet support came later in 1944.
When the over 350,000 Italians (about 30 divisions) in Yugoslavia/Greece and Albania) capitulated, Tito's force were able to capture large stocks of weapons and supplies.
Tito's forces were also able to manufacture a limited number of small arms locally.

I think I read somewhere on the forum that you would like to introduce factories to limit buying too much of one thing. But I can’t find the exact post. What type of factory is planned?

Re: Warplan 2 wishlist
I wish instead of the tac air offense button which i rarely use, that there was a way to pick a target and have all available air units attack that target, that would be a serious time saver
Re: Warplan 2 wishlist
More place names on the map.
Also I would remove all the roads from the map. I would replace them by a road network factor. And I would allow engineers to build / enhance roads like what was done during Burma campaign or in Russia. But, for me, roads are helping too much the unit moves at start.
I would distinguish rail lines capacity for supply. With rail lines having more capacity than others.
Major and minor rivers. With minor rivers possibly becoming major rivers during heavy rains turn. And rivers becoming frozen during winter. A dynamic map?
