Hotfix coming v1.00.121

Post by AlvaroSousa »

There is a serious enough bug in air units flying over water that I put in a hot fix request already for it. So be patient.

I ended up removing the auto-naval retreat rule I added. It was causing more exploits than it solved.

FYI there is some issue in processing with the software Matrix uses to create packages so the hotfix has been delayed slightly. This is not a backlog issue.

So it will be a few more days. Out of my hands.

Have open beta versions become a thing of the past?
Could a hotfix not have appeared sooner there?

If people is playing the open beta... I warn about the Russian balance issue in February and this is just now that it is acknowledged.
If more people would have played the beta...

I discovered some people were doing nefarious things with the betas. That is why they stopped.

But I am considering a different alternative.

Interest piqued!
Are you able to elaborate on 'nefarious' or are you under your own NDA?

Why not do it like WITE2 (and 1) ?

They use open betas routinely and apparently without issues...

is there any timetable on getting it done? game is not really playable currently, and steam users cannot undo the update.

could you just 'update' it again and remove the update?(downdate the game, i suppose...)

I installed this game over a year and a half ago (NOV 19) and 10 patches later (12 in all) it's still broken. I am not a fanboy, just a customer who spent his $40 and expects a game he can play. I could not care less if it is balanced for PBEM.

I will check back in a year. I have plenty of other games as yet unplayed.

"still" broken?

It has been working for the last 7 months fine...just the recent patch caused an air issue.

I guess if you don't play the game but once every year you might be unlucky.

I am wondering why some people think the game is "unplayable" or "broken" until the hotfix is available. My friend and I have continued playing our PBEM game after installing patch 1.00.12 without any noticeable problems. I invaded mainland Europe and had no issue flying missions with air units based in England so curious about the bug affecting air units flying over water. In my opinion the number of updates is an indication of the high level of support from Alvaro which is a positive. Many of the concepts in this game are very innovative which in part explains the number of updates. The developers of the Strategic Command series have been tweaking their games for almost 20 years although the basic game mechanics really haven't changed that much.

Any update on the hot fix timing? My PBEM is on hold and we have just been locked down for 3 days!

It is a Matrix issue. ALL updates for ALL games are held up due to it. Just not mine. I was just unfortunate for it to happen right now.

Perhaps also for the same reason, they can't post the second dev diary of Distant Worlds 2... [:D]

between their brutal pricing, their 2003 message board tech, their unwieldy MP options, and their apparent willingness to not only not help Devs support their products, but actively block solutions...

it's almost as if matrix kinda blows.

I like what Matrix Games does for wargaming but their tech is stuck in 2003.
