Steam vs Matrix

Post by Uxbridge »

After thrashing the AI for six months, I decided it was time to face a human, so I contacted my favorite opponent from old. He was keen and bought the game. Yesterday evening, when I sent him a modded scenario to test while learning the game, we realized there were some issues.

Silly enough, I'm so into Matrix when it comes to these kind of games that it didn't even occur to me that he might buy his from Steam. But he had. We now have two initial questions:

1. Can we play PBEM while on different "platforms", or do one of us have to buy another copy of the game? I saw something about Steam keys, but I rather not leave Matrix for Steam (usually that messes things up).

2. The scenario I sent him doesn't show up in his scenario list, even though I'm quite sure he put the files in the proper places. Is this also a Steam-related problem? He has the latest official (Steam) patch, while I'm on the 1.00.06 beta patch, but this seems not to be the problem, as I see it – the scenario should at least show up on the list. Any ideas?

the game does not use Steam for multiplayer...so you will have no issues. I bounce between the two without noticing any difference

Ah, thanks for that. One worry less. Then we only have to figure out why the scenario doesn't show up in his list. But it seems a lesser problem. [:)]
