Germany gets 40 Assault and Heavy Armor tech, Italy gets Assault and Interceptors.
The 3rd and 4th Panzers have arrived, but rain prevents any offensive for the moment.

U-boats sink 5 merchants but take 2 steps damage.

Germany builds a u-boat.

At this point the weather is not funny.

It doesn't rain. I must admit, it's hard to have some sort of coherent plan from here on. I suppose just the goal of taking Paris before more rain will have to suffice.

Germany builds a u-boat... and finally begins its land campaign in the west.

Much as we'd like to attack Belgium, we have to settle for the Netherlands this turn. Total losses are 3 infantry steps and 6 air steps, to 5 UK air steps. We are unable to damage the Dutch navy.

Our u-boats sink... nothing.

The Belgians fight hard, costing us 12 land steps. Typically, I forget to move my HQ so some fights are led by a subordinate.

U-boats sink 5 merchants but suffer 2 steps.
France advances into Belgium.
Dresden is strategic bombed for 3 damage.

We are really in a quandary now. The only way to advance seems to be straight though the French hordes.

We go on a massive offensive, using all but 5 of our supply trucks and one of our paratroopers (which we will likely lose).
At the end of the turn we have shattered a single French corps, and our infantry is at the front.
Total losses are 25 steps for us, 52 for the French.

I don't like that Lille is still in French hands. I should have taken the hex north of it last turn.

U-boats take 2 steps damage and sink nothing.
Our paratrooper shatters back to the deployment queue, great news.

But, and I can hardly believe it, the French retreat from Lille!
What are they thinking? I'd never have given it up without a fight.

Our offensive continues. Casualties are relatively light.
One French corps surrenders, the rest retreat.

The Allies bomb 6 of our ground units. It's already August and we still have an ocean of French infantry in front of us.

At very heavy cost, well over 30 steps, we manage to advance towards Paris.
The French suffer a single corps shattered.

I must admit I don't think I've ever had this much trouble before. Some of it is surely my opponent but frankly I just seem to have rotten luck so far.

Italy builds an alpine corps.

By now our panzers are mostly understrength and tired.

A typical combat result, the French are way overperforming:

U-boats sink 3 merchants but take 1 step damage.
The BEF is leaving France unharmed.

At this point I don't have many options. I was planning to take Yugoslavia and Greece (I never attack Greece anymore), but time is running out.
A weak attack on the Soviets in spring seems lackluster and "on rails". I prefer having strategic options but at this point there seems we have few if any.

Perhaps an attack on Vichy North Africa to threaten Gibraltar? I must admit the enjoyment of the game when you have few options suffers.
Doesn't make for a very interesting AAR either.

The dice rolls are more normal this turn, and we don't suffer any major losses. Paris will fall next turn.

I really really wanted to take the empty Bristol. But it is too late in the year. I don't even know if it will be possible to come up with some other shenanigans. We'll see.

von Manstein is promoted to lead an HQ, perhaps we can squeeze in an attack on Yugoslavia before the rains?

U-boats sink 3 merchants.

Paris falls, I'm assuming it will be enough for an armistice.

Germany turns off all reinforcements. Right now we have 5 panzers and no production to build any more before spring. It's looking rather catastrophic.

von Manstein prepares to assault Yugoslavia.

France does not seek an armistice. What more can go wrong?

U-boats sink 5 merchants.

After heavy bombing we take Rouen on the first attempt. This must be enough? (It is).

Germany builds the 6 Panzer and sets reinforce to 100, we have some u-boats to repair.
Italy gets Naval Air 42.

Ooops wrong screenshot. The Axis advance towards Belgrade and should possibly take it next turn.

Right now I don't really think this game merits an AAR. It's not a very interesting strategic situation.

You need 50 points of morale taken. I can only assume you are missing 5 from Rouen?

The Allies counter-attack at Rouen but fail to take it. We negotiate a peace settlement with France.

We overrun Belgrade, but do take 4 step losses to our panzers.

Italy begins lone submarine blockades of Malta and Gibraltar (sadly I think this will give harrybanana ideas for our mirror game!).

Germany turns off reinforcements and builds the 7 and 8 Panzers. Manpower is at 85%.
Some German aircraft are moved to Italy.
