Turn 97: May 7, 1943

German raiders sink 4 merchants in the far north.

Clear weather returns to all of northern Europe.

The exciting option now would be to go on an all out offensive in the East.
The smart option is to stay on the defensive. We do send all our bombers on raids against the frontlines.

Germany sends 140 production to Spain and builds 60 supply trucks. Manpower sits at 80%.

In the south we make a single 3 to 1 attack against a rifle corps but it fails, so we leave it at that.

Oops wrong picture in the previous post, here is the northern front:

Turn 98: May 21, 1943

The Soviets go on a rampage, shattering the 3rd panzer and making two infantry corps surrender.

I can see the shattering, but two corps surrendering outright on the first turn is bewildering. It really shouldn't happen.

The more I think about it, two corps surrendering like that on the very first turn is just utterly wrong. Shattering, sure.

We shatter one Soviet army in a counter-attack.

Spain builds a large corps, Italy builds a mountain corps.
Germany builds the 15th Panzer and sends aid to Yugoslavia.

Turn 99: June 4, 1943

Axis raiders sink 4 merchants, the Soviet sub sinks 1.
The Soviets maul a couple of infantry corps, and a cavalry unit raids the Ploesti oil fields.
Germany gets close support 44.

But what to do about the Soviets? Somehow when they attack they take magically less damage than the
defenders, and when we attack we take more.

In the south we are working on clearing the marshes against very weak opposition.

Yugoslavia builds an army.

Turn 100: June 18, 1943

The Allies massively invade Wales and capture Cardiff. The 2nd Panzer shatters in the east.

We counter-attack in the east, but the results aren't great, one mech corps surrendered, one army shattered.
One again we are open to counter-attack.

In the west all we can do is weaken the Scottish front to create some sort of a defensive line.
The Allies now have a full supply source in Cardiff.

Turn 101: July 2, 1943

Heavy fighting on the east front: a German corps shatters.

In the west we defend as best we can. An attack against US paratroopers goes nowhere.
A Spanish corps arrives in Newcastle, escorted by what remains of the German fleet.

If only we can hold out until the rains come, we might still be in Britain in 1944.

In the east we play defense in the north, but in the south we keep the pressure up, mauling the 25th tank corps and fording the river.

Germany mobilizes two new air units which are immediately railed east.

Italy builds a mountain corps, Finland builds a division.

Turn 102: July 16, 1943

Spain loses a corps in England. The Soviets attack our 2nd Storm infantry and for once we win the defensive fight.

The situation in the UK is bad, really really bad. We knock back the UK 30th armour, but it's costly.

In the east we create a small pocket with two armies, including the elite 2nd Siberian army.
Soviet losses are one tank corps shattered, one army shattered, one army surrendered.
But make no mistake, the fighting is heavy and so are our losses.

Turn 103: July 30, 1943

The Allies push forward in England, and I start to wonder if it is at all possible to hold out until fall.

We set up a nice counter-attack on the US 3rd Armor, but I fear our days in the UK are numbered.
All plans to send further reinforcements are cancelled. Instead we are looking at how to get our
troops over to the mainland. For now, everyone stays.

In the east the Soviets retake Vitebsk and shatter the corps there. An exposed Hungarian corps also shatters.

SillyFlower probably expect us to rush forward in the south now.
But no, we are headed to Kaluga. Is it just me or are the Soviets looking tired?
Those units in front of Tula and Moscow are looking awfully weak.
Will SillyFlower press the attack? Rush to defend?
Don't miss the exiting season finale coming to a forum near you soon!

PS The pocket surrendered.

Turn 104:

Attack it is! Three German corps shatter, including the 2nd Storm (with heavy artillery).

In a counter-attack we shatter the elite 1st Guard Tank easily enough, but can't seem to get a good
setup on anything else.

In the west we are just trying to hold on as long as possible. A few minor units ship out.

Spain builds a division (to merge with a small corps).

What does the Axis vs Allies VP look like at this point? Quiet in North Africa?
