Supply trucks.

Post by CHINCHIN »

I'm playing a PBEM from the 1940s scenario with the axis, and my rival has invaded Spain to alleviate the Russian front, he has like 8 British armored corps in Spain. It does not seem very realistic that in June 1942 the UK has 8 battleships. I think Germany has 9. For WP2 it would be good to limit the construction of these units, with factories, steel, engines, or whatever.

This makes me think that I am doing something wrong, Germany has 9 submarines, are they few?

I bought hundreds of supply trucks for the Russian front, is it worth this expense to recover 4% effectiveness in the armored units?

Another suggestion for WP2, the supply planes should be 10 units for a price of 40PP, and that they supply 10STR (1 to 1). And if 10 aircraft are eliminated at most in a failed supply mission, it is very hard to lose a 120PP supply plane at once.

Did the British ever fight in France?

Seems like they decided to go all armor...which can be good or bad. He should have maybe 3 armor and 10 inf...

How did the BOA go? With 9 subs he could not have done much...did your subs do poorly?

At the beginning UK has 3 corps in France and 1 HQ, I don't remember, but I think he retired them.

The 1940 scenario begins with 355MM and 22Esc. from UK. In August 1942 UK has 234MM and 31Esc. I have sunk 204MM and 22 Esc.

The UK only needs about 150 MS to receive full production. So since they start the 1940 scenario with 355 MS, the BOA is already over before it begins. Hate to tell you this, but as the Axis in the 1940 scenario it is a waste of production to build any U-Boats. Instead use the saved production for land units. Than use these units to either conquer Russia by 1942, or react to Western Allied invasions, or a bit of both.

Ok, thank you all.

And supply trucks, are they worth building in large numbers?

As Axis, I usually buy 100-120 trucks before France 1940 and 150 trucks before Barbarossa.
They are useful to boost your effectiveness.

Supply trucks used to be more effective than they are now. Under the current version I use an average of about 30 German supply trucks per turn during the campaign seasons (May to Sept) and about 10 per turn during the rest of the year. So you should plan accordingly.
