Airfield Construction

I see airfield construction is an option to be placed in a hex where aircraft aren't normally allowed … I haven't tried this. But am curious where these hexes might be …. Haven't run across any hex I couldn't move aircraft to yet …. Is there any other advantage using the airfields ?

Can only land planes in open spots - try moving them into a hill or mountain

So airfields only advantage is placing aircraft in hill or mountains or other similar hexes … I have images where players have placed them on major cities …..

Is there other benefits …. ? Would be a nice feature addition if they don't already …. otherwise they appear to have limited / targeted use ….

Or am I missing something ?

they just have the limited use of allowing a large area in bad terrain to have planes land, for large air force concentration in a theatre.

There are some spots where you may want to place an airfield, depending on the situation.

I've seen or personally placed them inland in Norway - as Axis - to protect the shipping land. Crete is another viable candidate or Cyprus depending on Middle East interests.

The zone around Leningrad for whoever wants to operate massively there.

was gonna mention leningrad as well, if you get pushed a hex or so of leningrad you have no close range spots left to land anymore, and usually its highly contested area too.
