Restore saved Netplay game hang

Post by jhpanther »

When trying to restore a netplay game (Barbarossa) following the described procedure with same next entry point, the payers are connected, but the game hangs and is not started. Anybody else with same problem ?
Cant wait to play this awesome game on net.

Make sure the game numbers are identical for both of you, the save times can be off a few seconds, but those entry numbers must match.

If that doesn't do it, then try backing up to an earlier auto savegame. Hopefully that works.

Sabre is correct and also those of us who play netplay do additional saves at certain points in the game. Make sure the other player receives your save which is confirmed by a game message.

Hi again,

It still doesn't work. The files have exact same info except the time differs 1 min. Player A starts the game, player B get a message that A has started the game and can only answer OK and then nothing happens. We have also tried with some of the autosaved files: same result. Should the game not start by itself ?

Are the player names in the game file the same as those in your respective NetPlayReg.txt files? You can check on this by opening them with Notepad. FREX:

Game file: top line: <game version #> , 10,2 and then second line: <player 1>,<player 2>,

top line of player 1's NetPlayReg.txt file: <player 1>

top line of player 2's NetPlayReg.txt file: <player 2>

Names must match exactly both letter by letter and must match upper case for upper case and lower case for lower case.

Name in file was with different case. Now it works. Thank you very much.
