To Matrix - AI

Post by jalapen0 »

Just want you to know that as soon as an AI is available for this game, I probably will buy it. That's the only thing holding me back from spending my coin. Thanks.

You have done nothing wrong jalapen0. Unfortunately there are a few hot topics at the moment which are generating some knee-jerk reactions along with one-eyed responses. eg

* whether the game should have an AI and when it should be provided and at what cost
* whether the game should be available without needing to purchase the physical manuals
* the cost of shipping manuals.

Be aware that innocent questions on those topics can sometimes produce disproportionate responses from other Forum members.

Perhaps I shouldve asked to confine "Wheres the AI" questions to the other threads. The way it was put by the OP was seemingly abrasive.

This in a way is a tough one, I believe that anyone on these forums can ask any question or make any statement they choose to as long as they are not insulting to another poster and the language is not foul, I have always felt that way and have so stated this before many times. I have no problem with what jalapen0 posted I was curious as to why he said it.

The problem as I see it is when a new thread is put on the posts some of the older posts get pushed to page two and could get lost in the shuffle to new posters coming tomorrow and the day after that and so on. Now I am not the judge of what is relevant to the MWIF posting nor should I be.

I feel postings like the Oil rule which is being talked about right now is a very important topic as time goes on, on a personal basis I would like to see my Annual 98 stay on the front page so new players coming on to the posts in the coming weeks would know that this great tactics pamplet will always be available to them. I can always add something to the post so it stays on page one but I am talking about other critical posts.

I feel the posting about whether manuals should have been included in the game or be an option and the pretty rough shipping costs that I did not have to deal with are very important issues to many posters here and it is good that they have an outlet so they can express their views negative or positive. I am not taking one side or the other on that but some of the posts have been a shade nasty and at least to me seem to be getting nastier.

I feel that is what maybe abwehrX might have been referring to but I trully dont know that. I do not speak for him or attempt to, maybe some one has suggestion how we can keep the most important posts on page 1

I agree with you Bo but as for the AI, Im a little weary of greenhorns bashing the game because it lacks an AI. Perhaps I have a bad attitude towards new players.....I will correct the error of my ways.

I hear you but it just might be the newbies who will make or break this game financially for Matrix when they go to buy it.

And you so expressed your feelings, no errors of your way just your opinion which is also allowed here which is also your right to critique a post, you have to remember abwehrX many players do not have the time for net play or Pbem and they want to play when they want to, and the AI affords that, and the no AI has upset them and that is understandable. We will be working hard on the AI after everything becomes more stable in the initial release.

It just gets tiresome to hear the same "Old" arguments and dissent brought up over and over! It has nothing to do with questions about gameplay or bugs...

I'm not trying to start up a fight. I was just saying that I'll buy the game when it has an AI. I saw that it is supposed to get one next year. I guess it was encouragement more than anything for matrix to deliver. Looks like a great game (I have never played the board game but I'm a HOI veteran). I can't do multiplayer though. I can't schedule game time, I'm too busy with other stuff. (RL is a bitch)

In no way am I saying it should have one now or not. In fact, I haven't read hardly anything on these forums so I don't know the dynamics of what's going on. I apologize if I ruffled feathers.

You did not ruffle any feathers or at least not [;)] mine. I think that with some critcal questions on board someone felt that you should have made the comment elsewhere but there is no elsewhere so your comment was fine it was where it was supposed to be.
