3.2 versus 4.02, and coming patch. Convoying and Manufacture

Post by Joseignacio »

Hello, I would like to know the members' opinion on the matter.

I had left the MWIF for years, till it seemed playable, so I didn't happen to play with the 03.2 series and went directly to the newer 04.0X beta versions. I play netplay.

I hear that (maybe) the 3.2 series had finally solved the worse production problems, those coming back in the 4 Beta version.

If so, just for the CBV there is no point in "upgrading" to 4 Beta series, while production is impossible to organize efficiently and some mandatory trade agreements sometimes are not enforced by the game for example: the prod planning/final shows no oil coming form NEI to Japan some turns...

The naval battles now seem to hang the game sometimes when assigning results if there are more results than units you may appply to, or in the return to base, making you spend each time easily half or one hour to reproduce all, withs set rolls and all. Did this happen as well in 3.2?

So, 3.2X or 4.xx?

Also, somebody knows whether the new patch will come soon and will address these bugs? Beacuse I am seeing some initiatives that try to show these bugs don't exist and it's the people not knowing how to do it that causes the problems. NOt true. At least in Netplay and 4.xx. So, does the patch addres this or we go ono with it's non-existence?

And even if this were true, there is a serious problem of playability when a normal intelligence experienced wargamer not incompetent with computer environments cannot understand how to do it after seeing videos relatives 4 times and spending 20 hours in all trying to make production work.

I dont know when.

but there are still bugs IN CBV, and steve just added V-weapons in the lastest beta patch.

he is also working hard on alot AI stuff.

so the game is not ready for a public beta right now.

the two main issues. supply calculation times and production is not a priority right now.

Yes, that's a pity. Really.

However, I was wondering if CONV+PRODUCTION, and Naval Battles bugs were solved in 3.2 and back in 4,x so downgrading the version I could maybe play efficiently.

Any experiences on 3.2 anyone? ihave just been beaten in a game that will record as the worst luck ever in my annals, and we are thinking of starting a new game and this seems crucial.

I think that you are better off with 3.2 than with any of the 4 series. Production and convoys works better in 3.2. Since CBV in 4 doesn't work yet, there is no point in upgrading.

Several ones (or all) cannot be deployed after constructed. It happened to us with the Nankin one, Dakar and some other africans, maybe Morccan and others.

its is a overstacking issue, the game simply dont know how to handle that. a few lines of code will fix that

Hi

Somewhere along the line I downloaded a 3.04. I now have two versions 3.02 and 3.04 but do not know the difference. The UK convoy situation in 3.04 is improved until they lend resources to France then - oh oby. But takes less time to straightenout just have to add extra convoys and many get wasted - it seems.

What is CBV?
Will we get convoy in flames?
Do these newer versions move up to where the paper game is 7? of whatever. I would do vassal but I really lkie Steve's china and Pacific map scale better. After scrolling thru the Asian contentinent I sometimes wonder but the China front seems more interesting than the paper games.
It seems like US entry and trade agreements might be upgraded. I always wondered why Italy did not have pre-war trade with US?

CBV = City Based Volunteers - an optional rule.

It is unlikely Convoys in Flames will be developed for MWiF.

MWiF is about 97% in line with the last version of Rules as Written, version 7 for WiF "Final Edition". The most recent version of the game - the "Collector's Edition" - is version 8, and does start SO39 with a trade agreement between USA and Italy.

The remaining 3% (IMO) consists of deviations from those rules plus as yet uncoded optional rules and scenarios.
