Unable to lend BP to USSR

Post by TeaLeaf »

Just a little info in advance:

-I am on version 3.02, N/D 1942 lending resources stage of a Lebensraum campaign
-Trying to Lend BP to USSR (either with CW or USA) stalls the game into an endless calculation (loop?)
-I think I found the cause of this stalling
-I found a workaround, but I hope by reporting this problem I can help making MWIF work perf... better ;) .
-I didn't include my savegame because I'm still on 3.02 as 4.xx kept crashing (failed to load savegames) and the bug should be tested in the newest version IMHO. Also, I previously had to modify the savegame because of another bug where CVPs became invisible and unselectable on their CVs (permanently making those CVs empty ships without aircraft). But if need be I can look for a save, ofc.

I'd like ask if anyone can try to reproduce the bug on a newer version (debug or otherwise). If it can't, it may have been solved already.
1. N/D 1942 lending resources stage of a Lebensraum campaign.
2. Make sure there is a trade agreement already with USSR. In my case the agreement was:
two resources from CW -India and Cyprus, via allied controlled Syria, Iraq and Persia (the latter for an Indian resource).
3. Make sure there are not enough convoy lines set up to facilitate any new BPs to USSR.
4. Modify the existing trade agreement so CW now sends 2 resources AND a BP, and/or try to open a NEW agreement so the USA sends a BP instead.
5. Open screen 'Production Planning' -> endless calculation starts.

The root of this bug seems to be:
not enough convoys set up to USSR. If agreements are started to Free France of a few BPs (either or both by CW or USA), no endless calculation starts. Just a note in the production planning that the sent BPs are lost (because the convoys are not yet set up). As it should be.
Also, I noticed that removing (parts of) trade agreements -in general, are NOT automatically adapted in the game, even though the trade agreement is no longer in place (and correctly, not present anymore in the trade agreements list).
Both may contribute to the manifestation of the bug (see below).

Workaround I found:
1. Delete all existing Trade Agreements with USSR.
2. Go into the Production Planning and remove the still existing transportation of resources to the USSR (correctly NOT found under 'trade', but if looking under 'non-oil' and 'oil' resources, the resources are still being transported to USSR (I had defaulted those, which may be why). Just clear those remnants of the old trade agreements.
3. Start a new agreement sending BP via the now empty convoys.
4. I also could now modify this new agreement to include resources to USSR, but those resources either came exclusively by train (Oil from Persia) or via empty convoys already in place (Cyprus).
5. I did NOT try to also send a BP from the USA to Russia, as I expected an endless calculation again. I suspect that to avoid this bug the convoy pipeline must have been set up first and still be 'unused'.
