Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #2. Naval Searches.
BOA. Faeroes Gap.
(1) [fine] RN, no search.
(2) [fine, non-phasing] GER Sub Gp 5042[0] searches.
(3) Well, the Sub Gp had orders to search but either didn't get those orders or failed to follow them.
(4) MWIF skipped over and did not allow the sub to search from the [0-box], even though it would have had 10% chance of finding.
(5) Will need to see if that's repeatable and, if so, file a bug report.
(6) Yes, it's repeatable.

Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #2. PTO & Asian Theater.
China. End of Impulse.
(1) Unless Chungking Wld defending their city can be flipped next allied impulse (10% - 19% chance), then assault attempt will have to wait.
(2) Even if flipped, odds not that good so may wait anyway.
(3) Looks like the Western Democracies are just going to have to chance the 10% that the turn ends before they get a reasonable shot to liberate Chungking. Korea. Manchuria. End of Impulse.
(4) MacArthur in command of all allied forces in Manchuria and Korea has been given the mission to bomb Japan into submission (i.e., surrender).
(5) The General is moving down Manchuria towards the joint allied SAC base in Pusan. US West Coast. End of Impulse.
(6) It came from the desert! What is that in Long Beach?

End of Impulse.
(1) Soviets in position to knock Bulgaria out of the war next allied impulse.
(2) Western Allies (at least) need at least 2 more impulses for a reasonable shot to capture Ankara, Turkey.
(3) The Soviets have offered ground strike support (against Ankara and/or other targets) to the Western Allies, who will likely accept their offer.

Re: GW Counterfactual Take 3.
Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Allied #2. The Western Front.
End of Impulse.
(1) The Red Army is chomping at the bit to "help out" their Western Allies finish off Germany.
(2) They've made several offers, all of them politely rejected, to do such.
(3) Molotov keeps pressing his Western Allied counterparts in the US, British & French governments if they will indeed be able to finish the conquest of Germany next allied impulse.
(4) The Western Allies reply that they will; but privately they begin to acknowledge that trying to capture Munich, Prague, Leipzig, Dresden & Berlin next allied impulse is unlikely.
(5) While there planners will certainly look at the possibility, but unless there's better than a 50/50 chance to do so the Western Allies may pursue a strategy that accepts some risk that the turn may end before they can conquer all these cities.
(6) In other words instead of accept a 50% combat risk next impulse for failure; the Western Allies will pursue a strategy that minimizes combat risk of failure (10% or less) and accepts a higher risk that the turn ends (50% or less) before they can execute their combat strategy.
(7) Now all this is held at the MOST SECRET, WESTERN ALLIED EYES ONLY level and not to be kept so much from Germany but from the Soviet Union; especially Stalin.
(8) SHAEF is under orders from the highest level NOT to let Soviet troops cross over into Germany!
(9) However; SHAEF is given some latitude to allow Soviet ground strikes against targets in Germany is so offered and needed.

Re: GW Counterfactual Take 3.
Turn 36. Jul/Aug 1945. Axis #3. Impulse #251.
Current Standings.
(1) If Germany can just hold on through the end of this turn, they'll finish 2nd.
(2) If not, then they'll finish 4th behind Japan and in front of Italy.
(3) The Democratic Allied (US, CW, France & China) have this thing wrapped up, but they do want to finish off Germany and capture Chungking (either or both if possible) this turn. Weather & Actions.
(4) Weather D10=1 -> opposite of what the axis wanted!
(5) Fine across the map everywhere, including North Monsoon.
(6) Adv=1, DRM=+0.
(7) Germany takes a land and uses their O-chit to reorg Rundstedt HQ-A & von Leeb HQ-I, who in turn will be used to reorg flipped land and possibly air units.
(8) Japan takes a rare air action for Yamamoto to reorg a fighter, nav & AA div to impeded US strategic bombing; especially their 2 Synth oil.
(9) I need to look back but I think this may be the first air action taken by anyone this war (i.e., game).
(10) This will be a short impulse.
(11) Also, after this impulse both Germany & Japan will pass from then on in order to maximize the chance of the turn ending.
(12) For the Soviets, this game (i.e., war) is coming down to the wire.
