Purchase Screen Screenshots

Sovereignty: Crown of Kings is a turn-based fantasy strategy game for the PC. It offers a intuitive yet deep province system, allowing you to raise armies, conduct diplomacy, scout enemy battle lines, rally heroes to your banner, send them on quests, cast spells and go to war. In Sovereignty, the player chooses one of 35 Realms in a bid for dominance of the map. Play is conducted in a series of turns as a single player game. Each Realm has a unique culture and history, which translates directly into different play-styles. Each realm has its own mix of unit types and spell trees. Their diplomatic relations, economies and histories vary. A player may choose a new realm and experience the game in a very different way. Fantasy heroes, troops, races and spells complement the rise to power.

Purchase Screen Screenshots

Post by Breca »

Next batch of in-game screenshots are ready: the Purchase Screen.

You're probably familiar with the style of the UI. Click on a class (Infantry, Cavalry, etc) on the left. That brings up a selection of units available in that class. You can also compare stats of your selected unit to another in the same class.

This batch highlights four of the realms in Sovereignty:

1) Sonneneve: Realm of the high elves, showing Infantry
2) Myrmont: A powerful civilized rival of Ariselle, showing Cavalry
3) Maledor: Zealots of the Cult of the Worm, showing Infantry
4) Ariselle: A major civilized sea power, showing Infantry

Good Hunting!

I like the layout of the screens. My only criticism would be the small icons covering the unit art. It just feels awkward having the icons covering many of the faces. As an illustrator who has done a lot of art for card games, nothing is more vexing than having your paintings buried behind icons:)

That being said, this game is looking like a must purchase for me.

True, we better drop them on the bottom of the card instead of on top!

But that would cover up Dryad botty.

You could always run them vertically on the left hand side of the art. That way they would match the icons on the left and right side of the screen....and not cover booty:)

Thanks, Umbra. Player feedback is always read during the dev process, particularly when we hit beta.
Beta will be a crucible of bug fixes, gameplay tweaks, and relentless polish. We will definitely be looking at and responding to player feedback through that process.

The observation on the Unit icons in the Purchase screen was spot on.

Here's what we're changing as a result of that.

Hey Breca,

Just a simple design suggestion. I think extending the thin gold border around the unit name would help tie the whole unit art together.

heaps better with teh text position changed - this game has some great unit art and it would be a shame to see any of it covered it. The art gives the game great appeal to me!

How about a frame at the bottom edge of the card, there appears to be plenty of space on screen to add a small frame to each card just under the unit name.
