You mean it won't be available at CompUSA, Fry's and Best Buy like Spartan was?!? Ouch. Guess I won't be getting it.

Solops,

At least not initially. I'm interested in hearing why you wouldn't consider buying from our online store - within a week or so of release you'll be able to get the same kind of box that would be in CompUSA shipped directly to you if downloading is an issue.

No more credit card purchases over the internet for me or my family. Not now or for the forseeable future. Whether it is the transaction itself, the security of the computer in which the card data and order resides or the people who have access to it, somewhere the process is NOT secure.

Solops,

If you have concerns in that regard, we also do support wire transfers. There are also ways to set up temporary "sub-cards" of your credit cards that are only good for a certain amount (say $40) which can be used for a single internet purchase without any risk of further fraud.

Yet you give your credit card to people earning minimum wage plus tips at a restaurant? [&:]

I've had my CC details lifted once, and that was from a dominos pizza place. The reality is that credit cards themselves are flawed (poorly authenticated) but the systems in place with most of the banks are good enough to counter that.

Hi!

I used to be afraid of using my credit card online.

I started in what I call a "safe mode" with Pay Pal. That is an excellent system and I really like it.

Nevertheless, there are places where they don't have Pay Pal, so when you are taken to the screen for entering your credit card number make sure the address starts with https. Note the addition of the s. That means secure. If the screen doesn't have that, I don't put my number in and don't buy.

So far, I've bought quite a few things online. No problems yet (knock on wood).

Wow... sounds like you had a bad experience.

Personally, I buy nearly everything online these days and have never had a security problem. I also pay all my bills electronically.

As was pointed out above, nothing is perfectly secure these day. You can get obsessive about shredding every piece of paper and not using a credit card online and so forth, but if someone sets out to get you... they probably will. You just use common sense about when and where you purchase online and watch your statements so you can pick up on any fraud and file a claim with your credit card company or bank. I also have a low limit credit card that I can use with little risk of too much damage.

It's an electronic world and refusing to play in it is just delaying the inevitable - some day you'll be forced to because that's all that's available.
