Love the idea, hate the game

Post by joe78man »

Hey guys, I'm having a hard time, mostly frustrating, with this game, so I decided to start a campaign and describe, step by step, my races. I hope you can spot my mistakes and explain to me why so many things happen without me being able to tell what the #$%"#&#& "$#%$#"% IS GOING ON!!! [:@], sorry, let me take another pill... that's ok, I shall start then.

Start:
I will avoid the first crashing attact

Skill S
Const C
Qual. Q
Size Z
SPD P
End E

8 participants:
1st line
===================
1.SEQ Me
2.SEQ Iutumaros
3.SEQ Carsicios
4.CQE Menicoptos
-------------------
2nd line
===================
5.CZP Nud
6.CZP Huctia
7.CZP Cynan
8.CZP Rigatikos
-------------------

1st move:
1. whip, starts ahead
2. whip, considerably slower than me, yet same chariot, horses and skill
3. whip, slower than me but faster than 2, same horses, chariot and skill
(this is one of the things that makes no sense to me, why is this happening? same everything, same action, yet different results)
4. whip, taking third place, slightly behind
5. whip, sticks to my tail
6. whips, slowered by Tutumaros, one horse takes small damage, taking last place
7. accelerates, running steady behind Carsicios
8. whips, sticks to Menicoptos' tail

2nd move:
1. whip, closing into the curve
2. whips, now head to head with me (again, same everything, same action, but this time he's faster than me WTF?)
3. whips, he's got the same horses, cart and driver than Tutumaros and me, but he's faster than both, taking 1st place. What the hell is going on here?
4. Accelerates, falling behind in 4th place
5. whips, falls far behind like he's being dragged by something. I truly see no factor to cause this, at this point I think there is a random fact that affects seriously everything, which is crap.
6. whips too, and despite Huctia is a copy of Nud, he runs like hell
7. whips, also same as Hud, is running side by side with Huctia
8. decides to displace left, taking the 3rd track. Last, not far from Huctia

3rd move:
1. I chose control. Tutumaros whips at me, I lose my whip and my cart falls apart. that's the end of my race.

I must say this is not the first time shit like this happens, making the game a pointless effort. There is no point in playing if what I earn in three races I lose to replace the loses in a race like this one.

I still hope it's me who doesn't understand the dynamic and is not that this game is a awesome idea made the worst way possible.

any hints?

Another race, last curve. I'm first in the outter lane, second is close to me in the next inner lane, he lacerates me, 1 hit (I was unspoiled), he KILLs me.

Fuck this game[:@]

Haha, hate when that happens, but to be fair, you could have guarded against lashing.

History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.

Keep playing. You'll get better at it.

The differences in acceleration you are seeing is most likely due to a random number generator giving each driver a bonus or malus effect to the currently selected action. There is an event that comes up every now and then that says something like "You will achieve maximum acceleration off the start line." This alone tells me that each whipping or acceleration action will not always have the same absolute effect on chariot speed.

Yes, accelerations are randomized in a bell curve between an interval defined by chariot quality. joe78man, try using the "watch" order everytime you feel in danger, it totally cancels any attack against you.
