Error on startup

I had the Battlefront version and everything worked fine. Downloaded the Matrix version with new serial number but now at startup I get error box(just says error). I get the opening menu but click on play and get error message. I am able to start 1848. I have
dl vers 1.75 but the same thing happens. Whatever version Matrix has when you first download is the ver. I am using. Thanks.

Just to confirm, did you uninstall the Battlefront version before installing the Matrix version or did you install the latter on top of the former?

I did uninstall the battlefront version before installing Matrix version.
The battlefront version played fine.
Any ideas?

I forgot to mention thar 1848 plays fine.  I really want to play this game again with the Matrix patch.
I hope you can help me solve this issue.

I did an uninstall of Matrix For Liberty and reloaded Battlefronts For iberty just so I could play the game. I can get to the main menu but now no text in the Battlefront version.
What is going on here? I am including the dirextx dialog file to see if that can help you help me.
All worked fine untill the Matrix version was installed.

A screenshot could be useful.
- Try to set windows dpi to windows default 96
- pick the default color scheme in windows

I difd what you said about changing the dpi and now the Battlefront version works. Thank you.
The matrix version is still coming up with the error box. I get the frontend screen to come up and click on play.
I hear the drum playing and when it stops I get the error dialog box which says "error" and that is it.
Like I said before 1848 works fine (Matrix version).
Please help.

Can I apply the Matrix patch to the Battltfront version? Or is there anyway around the
Matrix opening screen where you click on play or there forums etc.? Since I can now play the Battlefront version and not Matrix I can guess that something Matrix did is the problem
and the opening scren is where I need to start. I have clicked on the exe. in the Matrix folder with the same result. I would show a screen of the error but can't remember how to do that.

can move along and play the Battlefront version 1.60 and not wait for the patched Matrix version.

I was waiting for Hussar to reply as I have no idea why the Battlefront version would work for you but not the more recent Matrix version. One question I have is whether you've tried having only one version installed at a time to see if they perhaps share some registry settings that are confusing the Matrix version?

Hello Erik,
I deleted the Battlefront version before installing the Matrix version. The only obvious difference is the startup screen that
Matrix uses verus what Battlefront did.

The message you are getting is an install problem. The registry does not have the correct serial number. Uninstall all existing versions on your computer then reinstall.
If it still does not work, you may have an bad serial number. In this case, please send your serial to support: support@matrixgames.com

I did what you said and I am still getting the error. I will send the serial to support.
If you can tell me where in the registry to look maybe I can clear it myself.
Serial should work as it is the one Matrix gave me when I converted from
Battlefront to Matrix.

Still can't start game. HussarGames said it was a bad serial number. Got a new number and same result. I am able to install the game ok but when I hit play I get error box still.
1848 installs and plays fine.
If it is a registry problem please direct me to where in the registry it is and how it is supposed to look and I can edit myself .

go to windows, regedit, edit, find. search for battlefront and delete anything that shows up. only way to get rid of everything there. uninstalls always leave something behind.

In my haste to run the game and since my emails to cust. support are being ignored I went ahead and bought a fresh copy with different serial num (HussarGames said my problem was probably bad serial num).
Installed the game fine, hit play and same result. So two different copies with two different serial num. and same result. That tells me that the problem of the bad serial
is not the problem at all. So I now have two copies that I can't run. The battlefront version
runs fine but I want to run the game with the new updates which can only be done through Matrix. I have been trying to resolve this problem since 1/03/07.
Please help.
