How Do You Play By Email?

Post by elxaime »

My brother and I are trying to start a campaign game of For Liberty play by email (PBEM). But although the game manual talks about network play, there is zero in the manual about PBEM procedures.

We have tried to guess by trial and error, but it is not working. I started the game as the Americans, did my turn, hit end turn, then emailed the USA save file. My brother did his turn and emailed back the British save file. I then opened the Brit save file, using my password (USA) since none of the other files responded to my password. The Brit file opened and prompted me to view the turn, but when the American turn came (for turn 2) NONE of the actions I did the first turn had occurred!

It would be helpful if the game designers could post the step-by-step process for PBEM, including which files you mail back and forth.

American player starts the game in PBEM mode.
1.USA player makes his turn.
2.When you hit END TURN, you will be prompted a save name. Enter: 'H1' or 'Peter1', or whatever - it is useful to keep at least a few turns as backup. The game will be saved: PBEM_H1.sav
4. Email this file to your opponent.
6. Brit player opens the file. He must replay USA turn by using SPACE. The he will be notified that it its his turn (pop-up).
7. Brit player makes the turn.

Repeat...
