No gold in Russia?

There are no gold mines or discovered gold for Russia, at least in the demo (1850). This seems to indicate that the historical accuracy aspect of this game is very poor. Russia was a major gold producer by 1850 (there is a source that says it was the #1 producer in the world prior to the discovery of gold in California and Australia), and I think it's inexcusable for it to not even have any gold discovered among its resources.

there are regular events that fire across the world (incl Russia) thatproduce the major finds that occured.

also remember there have been 3 major patches and recent minor tweaks since the demo.

Could anyone with the latest patch confirm whether Russia starts with any gold in 1850?

Not at the start. 9 turns in, nothing yet.

well, you can allways make own event. which adds gold to desired province . And i think later you get even which add gems to russia, but not sure about gold.
