Frank Hunter's Campaigns on the Danube is an operational study of the campaigns along the Danube in 1805 and 1809. Campaigns on the Danube's system focuses on trying to present the player with the same sort of decisions placed on their historical counterparts; how to feed an army and move that army according to a plan, all the while trying to fight a campaign. There is also an option to allow players to play out the battles with miniatures and input the results.

Availability?

Not to seem impatient; but any word about when we might grab this game? I will be devastated if another weekend goes by and I can't advance down the Danube.[:@]

Ditto. The wife and kids are going out of town this weekend. Perfect time to dive into a new game w/o any distractions...

The Perfect Plan

Post by EricLarsen »

Mark T,
First get the game, then plan on sending the wife and kids out of town so you know you'll have a fine uninterupted weekend of gaming pleasure. [:'(] Actually the game is very close to release although I'm not certain of the exact date so there won't be many weekends now to wait. The game is a blast, especially PBEM. I'll be looking for some new Nappy victims as I love playing the Austrians in the historical 1809 scenario.

Eric,
Anytime an Austrian player can isolate a french corps is a bonus... 1809 even better.
I have 10,000 Napoleonic miniatures waiting for the orders to march.. So I am ready to go. [:'(]

Well, I got divorced a year ago, so the ex-wife is always out of the house.[:D] Eric, after I play a few solo games, I will be more than happy to send my Imperial Eagles to pay you a visit at Schonbrunn. Have the latte ready.[:)]

Sorry, I'm not Starbucks!

Post by EricLarsen »

Arinvald,
Sorry, I'm not Starbucks so I don't serve latte, only hot lead. I'm hoping to get my mitts on the new version so I won't have any compatibility problems when playing PBEM. One nice thing is the game should be the cleanest game you've ever seen released as I helped Frank get it straight after it's initial release last year so I could play it PBEM without getting zapped by bugs. You'll be lucky to cross the Inn River as I protect my ancestral home of Altheim - just outside of Braunau, much less get to Schonbrunn or Vienna. I look forward to playing this game again PBEM as it is a blast, especially with Full Fog of War. [:D]

If you can't swing latte, my armies will settle for beer.[:)] I am really getting primed to play this game. Hopefully you won't thrash my soldiers to badly the first game.[:(] Full FOW all the way!

I took a guided tour of Schonbrun some years back. The guide explained Napoleon's visit there in 1809 as something along the lines of bringing the kids there to see the grandparents for the summer. Or that's what she tried until I was laughing so hard that she got embarrassed and admitted the truth.

Thanks David. Was wondering Whiskey Tango Foxtrot "imminent" release meant. Very much looking forward to this one.
