Multiplayer

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Multiplayer

Post by Iñaki Harrizabalagatar »

Hi
1)Can the game be played by severals players thorugh Internet? if so,
2)how long would take to complete a match?
3)would the tactic part of the the game be playable?
4) Would there be different level of victories to powers, so that you can, for instance, win the game playing Spain against human opponents?

Multiplayer is designed to allow several human players to compete over the internet, or any connection supported by Microsoft's Direct Play. The standard scenario is fairly long, but players can set parameters to create shorter games. I am not certain how the performance of dialup connections will measure up, but it should be possible to play over dialup if one is willing to put up with the delay.

There are two types of games. One is a race to a predetermined level of glory; in the other the winner is determined by the player with the greatest glory at a predetermined end turn.

The tactical part of the game is playable over the network.

We are still debating the exact mechanism for allowing balanced games (so that Spain can win against human opponents) -- whether to give handicapping score factors or a fixed bonus starting score or to allow some countries to have production bonuses.

Thank you for your interest and your good questions.

Seems like these might be fighting-words for the folks who are sending me rude, uhm, I mean compelling and emotional, email in regard to the delay in COG's PBEM support!

Vociferous minority, though. Single-Player is the norm for games like this.
Or are you planning on turning it into some sort of WW2Online clone? (just kidding, Eric!)
