This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

Will this game run in higher resolutions, 1280x1024?

No. Well actually it'll run just fine at this resolution, but it changes the resolution to 1024x768 when the program loads.

Thank you for writing.  It's really too bad.  I was looking forward to playing cog without the (for me) too complex economy.  But I have a flat screen with a native 1280x1024 screen.  So the game might run fine but it probably won't look very good.

It's all subjective. It looks good to me on a 1680x1050 screen, for example.

I think it depends on the game and the monitor (mine is pretty inexpensive).  I was all set to get back into playing spwaw.  Installed it and it looked so bad that I didn't .  On the other hand, the war machine and heroes/might&magic3, both at 800x600 look ok.  If there's a demo, I'll try it out and see.

In this day and age with all the flat monitors and laptops I just don't understand devs making a game with a set res.  It can't be too hard to make a desktop res for a game since so many are that way, including some remakes of old games on matrix.  Like harpoon, toaw and cs that I've bought.  To me it's like making a game that has major problems on vista, just makes no sense.

At least make it an option to be able to run the game in Windowed Mode and this will help as well!!

Thanks

I would also recommend that everyone with a new widescreen high res monitor get to know their driver settings. Modern graphics drivers often include scaling options that allow you to play old games without any stretching at all or at least make them look better. If your monitor doesn't scale the image well, some also allow you to have the graphics card do the scaling instead. Don't just hook things up, use the default settings and assume that's the best you can do.
