Needed: A Guide to Advanced Economy

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

Needed: A Guide to Advanced Economy

Post by PaulWRoberts »

I've read the manual twice, and I love the idea of the advanced economy, but I'm still daunted every time I start up an Advanced Economy game. I think the intimidating part is having to set each province individually.

I'm putting out a plea for an Advanced Economy guide or tutorial. Heck, even an AAR focused on economy would help. With so many variables and resources available, I'm just not sure what to consider important (or most important). For instance, are there any quick and dirty rules for knowing when you're moving your economy in the right direction? Are there any temptations to be avoided?

Thanks for any advice.

While I'm at it, and from my limited understanding, here are some requests:

1) A sortable resource list with columns for every resource. FoF had this for labor, iron, money, and horses, and it was a big help. Being able to see just which provinces have the most of what (instead of just the most in general, as the present list shows) would be a big help.

2) Would it make sense for there to be global settings for the things we have to set province-by-province now? Is there a reason why these must be set individually?

As far as your #1, I agree. And I think I have a solution for the Programmers.

On the mini-map you click on Map Display Production. It seemed totally useless to me. Well, I think they meant for that display to be what you are talking about. It should be the top 3 resources so you know you get if you invade certain provinces. For example, if you need IRON.., you cannot tell what provinces have IRON unless they are yours. So you do not know where to focus your forces.

So that 'Display Production' map feature needs to be changed to the Provinces' top 3 Resources.

One is on the way.  I'm almost finished.  The modder's guide has to come first, then I'll wrap the econ guide.  Patience, my friend, patience.

In the meantime, play with the simple economy.

Did you see the separate advanced economy manual and also the videos?

Also this guide is a big help: http://www.rosesolutions.com/Docs/raleg ... %201.0.pdf

I did read the advanced economy appendix, and also the videos. What I'm looking for is something more like the guide you linked, but expanded even more. (I just stumbled across that guide in the COG forum last night--it's a good one.)
