Congrats!

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

I thought somebody had better say it... this is just great, the detailed battles have been massively improved and this part is good enough for a stand-alone game in itself. And the whole game is actually 3 games; a near operational-level game; a strategic game if you want to get under the hood of the economics and of course the tactical game. Haven't even got round to the naval battles in any detail yet! Well done to all involved. This is the culmination of a few years of ever-improving wargame development.

Congratulations from me too!

I had the pleasure of meeting the Western Civilization team when I was helping Matrix at Origins 2008.  They're a top-notch bunch.  They've got knowledge, dedication, and a good attitude too.

Way to go, y'all!

Could win over a lot of new gamers with this one.  I never really took to the first COG and FOF never grew on me either though the trend was getting better with the big patch for FOF...but this is just my cup of tea!  It's worth the price of all three games! (now if we could cool down those crazy waving flags on the strat map.... :-) Unfortunately being a wargamer I have to grumble about something!)

Paul,
Good to see you here, and thanks for your comments.

By the way, I'm typing these words in the Beaners/Bigby's on Liberty, just 2-3 doors down from the Michigan Theater.

Kipper,
Thank you -- we definitely appreciate your comments.

A stand-alone HW game for Waterloo, Austerlitz, etc. is something we've considered, but we'll have to see how COG:EE does in order to get a sense of the demand. We might also do the same for Trafalgar and other major naval battles, now that we have naval detailed combat.

Hi Paul!  Good to see you around the forum.

Kipper, thanks for the kind words.  It'd be possible to modify the flag files to make them static.  The relevant files are:
1)  Gfx/Flags/UnitArmy.pcx
2)  Gfx/Flags/UnitCorps.pcx
3)  Gfx/Flags/UnitNavy.pcx
4)  Gfx/Flags/UnitSurCorps.pcx
5)  Gfx/Flags/UnitArmy_a.pcx
6)  Gfx/Flags/UnitCorps_a.pcx
7)  Gfx/Flags/UnitNavy_a.pcx
8)  Gfx/Flags/UnitSurCorps_a.pcx

To make the flags not wave, one would copy the top row over each row of each file, effectively replacing the cells of the animation with identical images.

I love it so far also. FoF was my first ACS game and I though it was great. CoG:EE is better and I enjoy the period better than ACW. Great job all at ACS!

Thanks for the tip Ecricbabe tried it but alas it requires a precision of placement of numerous graphics that I just can't manage. Will keep trying... in the meantime if anybody has a good grpahics package out there...

EDIT
Thanks Ericbabe I got to them to the stage where they don't affect gameplay for me. Will not take the skills of the graphics artist for granted ever again!

I have to say I'm really impress!!!! I know I won't play long against the AI only ( it's to random in my opinion... I'd rather play PBEM with people with plans in there mind...)

I just tough of something... Wouldn't there be place for abuse in PBEM with portectorate? I ask Austria (whom I want to ally with to attack saxony on the first turn... Thus I'll get Saxony and we can easily surrender after that?
