Detailed Combat Questions

Hello,

I'm new to COGEE. I bought the game from Matrix two weeks ago and I really enjoy trying to play the game. I'm having trouble comprehending detailed combat.

It's November 1805 (and I keep replaying this turn to figure out what's up) and I have a huge French army sitting in Wurttemburg. It's over 230,000 troops ready to go. I have the Grande Armee I, Grande Armeee II, Deroi's corp, and several other corps. It's all sitting ready to go.

However, the Russian's have a nearby army in Tyrolia. It has about 60,000 troops and they like to attack me in Wurttemburg. I'm not moving my army out. It's all there waiting for them.

Yet when I select detailed combat I don't get the whole army. Only portions of it. That angers me to degree. [:@] Why when I'm attacked isn't the whole army able to be placed on the battlefield. I should be able to trounce this army but they're able to beat mine! Can someone explain what is happening here?

Page 60 of the manual, section 3.3, tells about "battle limits".
And units forced out of battle by limits become automatic reinforcements.
