I am afraid it did not work for me. The main map screen flickers on and off constantly. If I move my mouse onto the main map it stops flickering, but the side panel disappears. :)

These are the symptoms when the files are absent.
All these files must be put in the root folder ("Napoleon in Italy") of the game.
Good luck.

Getting close, but not quite there yet. The game seems much more stable but I now get an error message 'Access violation at address 74A6A34E in module msvcrt.dll write of address 000049A' Any ideas?

In my blind leading the blind manner, I did add a msvcrt.dll file to the Nap in Italy folder to no effect. :(

Just purchased Napoleon in Italy during the sale. I've followed the directions several times and can't get the game to work. It keeps showing an Access Violation error in msvcrt.dll. Any ideas? I've done everything I could possibly think of to get this game working. It just won't work for me.

Already tried the guide. Step by step three separate times. No luck.

Off topic: Why is it showing that I've only posted 5 total forum posts when I have several 100 posts over the past 15 years? Something isn't right.

are you running the game in windows 7? windows 10?

Do you have an onboard secondard intel graphics card that you can opt to use?

if all else fails maybe something like a pc emulation - vmware or virtual pc will be the only way to play it

when do you get the access violation message? before the game even starts?

HI Tevans

i just had to upgrade to windows 10 recently and reinstalled Napoleon in Italy and was getting the access violation error message when i would go to start a campaign - is that what you were experiencing?

i have however now fixed the problem it seems, - go to the game folder and go to the Napoleon.exe - and remove any compatibility settings for it - with those Wined3d files added that Vpaulus listed (see this thread https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.a ... 1&#4124542) they are really all you need.
you dont even need to have the "run as administrator" option selected.

if you computer has an intel and nvidia card, make sure it is the nvidia card that is being used for it (normally fdor old games i would suggest the intel card, but in this instance the nvidia card works well i found)
