Another Patch

Post by mgarnett »

Hi,

As with others, I am experiencing graphical slow downs and general unresponsiveness trying to run this game on Windows 7 64 bit. Now I know this game was released well in advance of Windows 7, but I wondered if you would consider accepting help from a member of the community to develop another patch for the game to make it more friendly on modern OS's.

If this is something you would consider, I'd like to volunteer!

Cheers

I had this problem but got it fixed for windows 7 by going in and setting the compatibility settings for the game exe to run as Admin and also disable desktop composition. also when in the game, set the FPS Rate to 8 - that might sound like it will slow the game down but it doesnt really, not to any unplayable speed at all, what fortunately will occur now is that there will be no freezing up when in the campaign game.

i hope this helps - it helped me to get the game running well on windows 7 64bit.

changing the compatiblity settings to be xp sp2 might help also but i found i didnt need to do that myself, but others may differ

Even though it's a free game, I ask for a similar patch for 1848. I've encountered almost the same issues, but compatibility mode, visual themes, desktop compositions, high DPI settings and running it as admin didn't do the trick. I can actually run the game, but it's unbearably laggy.

Have you tried setting your display resolution to 1024 x 768? That works for me on Win7x64.
