The King of Spain is away for the holiday, so we're on hold for the moment.

What I'm hoping for it that the Allies smash themselves against the Grand Army until Wein falls to siege.

In the meantime, the Army of Italy will hopefully take Trieste then head for Wein.

Or, it will split in two, with one corps heading for Wein, and become part of the GA when it enters Nappy's command span.

Or, two corps move to Wein, and Massena and the other head for the Spanish border. All are options after Trieste falls.

The Army of Spain could cross Spain and either take Portugal or Gibraltar. Or it could defend France. I have passage rights from Spain, so I can enter the territory.

Nothing much.

Linz was taken by a Russian cavalry force. No matter, it will be retaken,

Innsbruck is under siege.

And Wein, with the walls breached, will be assaulted.

The Imperial Navy sorties out, and runs back for home.

I'll keep that in mind, though I'm not running the game. :)

And 1 loss. Trivial, and no NM lost.

And the result of this:

Image

Austria has lost its capitol.

It's NM has dropped to 82 while mine has soared from 112 to 138.

France is now leading in victory points.

And yet, no request for peace.....

Maybe they are holding out waiting for Pearl Harbor to happen so the United States enters the war and the Arsenal of Democracy gets rolling? [:D]

It isn't in their interest to fight to destruction. And it isn't for me to offer them peace. Since I'm winning, I have no reason to.

It is rather odd they are taking the "Unconditional Surrender" approach. Each major power has multiple goals to strive for and defeating France in the first year of the war is:

1. A forlorn hope

2. Not the best strategy right away.

It sounds like these guys need to learn the art of diplomacy. It would make the game much more enjoyable for them I would think. I mean, what can the Austrian player really do at this point when he gets the turn? Stare at his occupied country, read a few messages, and then send the turn off?

I don't think they ever read the victory conditions. Only 1 person can win.

Maybe he's waiting for the Russian army to show up?

But their army isn't any better than any other non French army. (No corps, division sized units, no march to the sound of the guns, etc.)

As an aside, if it turns out that they're playing like it's 1939 rather than 1805-15, I'll drop out. I'm sure I can knock both Austria and Prussia out of the game for good. But I don't want to.

And more to the point, why should I have to?

I'm also 12 days from Berlin. (2 turns at one week/turn.)

An email I got from the host.

"Unless any player disagrees, will send an Orders Request after 10 orders (between the two games) have been uploaded, but never before 2 days after history file has been posted.

There are two alternate ways for a player to submit orders: 1- request the host to make a ‘blank’ turn (just load and save); 2- arrange for another player to write your order."

Player nations will not be run by the AI."

Now, for those of you that don't know, there is *no* protection for your orders. Anyone who has access to your orders can load them and see what you're doing. Or change what you're doing. So yes, you need some trust.

Here's the problem I have. The host wants to access your orders with the first method. There is just no way I would let the guy who is playing Great Britain do orders for France.

With the second, the same thing applies. Now when I was running the game, GB did that a few times. I let it go for the sake of the game. He's the same one who said he would drop out if the AI runs a country. With the second method, I'm fighting four of the other six players. And have no allies. So just who is going to run *my* turn if I miss a day?

So I pulled a page from his book. I told everyone that if the AI does not, or if any player other than the one who plays that country, play the turn, then I drop out.

I don't mind waiting, the Turkish player doesn't always have access to his machine. And I don't mind waiting on him

The Grand Army was not so grand. 2/3rds of it didn't even show up.

Ah well, only a 1 NM loss.

The Austrian army at Trieste disappeared..... hmmmmmmm.

Turn 31. Trieste and Graz. Both objective cities.

Pressburg, to my surprise, and it shouldn't be one, falls without a fight.

I put a list of what each region Austria lost is worth up.

But the numbers just didn't seem to work when you compare city by city.

For example:

Wien: 19 Conscripts, 11 War Supply, 17 Ammo, 104 Money, 10 Horses by looking at the city on the map.

The region tab: 44 Money, 5 War Supply, 16 Conscripts, 8 Horses.

I don't know if what the city has is in addition to the region or not.

This is what Austria starts with according to the regions tab.

Money 150, War Supply 115, Conscripts 269, Horses 48, General supply 6570.

The value of the regions I occupy.

Money 84, War Supply 41, Conscripts 56, Horses 8, General supply 2383.

If you check each city on the map, looking at each structure in each city in turn, the occupied cities show:

Money 152, War Supply 51, Conscripts 65, Horses 10, Ammo 71. General supply 292 is lost to Austria.

Strategic Pic.

Austria shows no sign of wanting peace. I have three options, well 4.

1: Drive for Pest. (Where Buda is.)

2: Drive for Prague.

3: Drive for Berlin after Prague or Berlin just with Davout.

4: Consolidate and wait a turn or two or three.

EDIT: #1 is the one to pick. Austria has the Dual Capitol National Modifier, in which Wien and Buda are capitol cities.
