AGEOD Forum and Moving Units From "Off-Map" Boxes

AGEOD’S American Civil War - The Blue and the Gray is a historical operational strategy game with a simultaneous turn-based engine (WEGO system) that places players at the head of the USA or CSA during the American Civil War (1861-1865).

AGEOD Forum and Moving Units From "Off-Map" Boxes

Post by Icedawg »

Two questions:

First, does anyone know how to get onto the AEGOD forum? I went through the registration process yesterday afternoon (submitted my basic info and e-mail address), but haven't gotten the confirmation e-mail the instructions said would be coming. From past experience, this e-mail typically only takes a few minutes to an hour or so. Is AEGOD just a bit slow, or is there something else I have to do to register with them? (Do I need to submit a DNA sample or pass a drug test first? [:D])

Secondly, how do you move units from off-map boxes? Specifically, I will sometimes get a message saying that patriots have taken Laredo, TX. A militia unit appears there, but when I try to move it somewhere (by dragging and dropping onto a province in western Texas), nothing happens. When I check the unit the next turn it has vanished. It is not in Laredo and it does not appear on the unit roster. Has it disbanded? Has attrition completely destroyed the unit? Are the recruits all off taking a siesta with Panama Red? [>:] What's up?

Thought you only needed to register to post? Was this the link you tried?

I've never seen what you describe happen. Is Laredo in the Mexico boxes? If it is you cannot move them until activated.

Not sure about your forum issue, never seen that before on that forum, though I have on some others. Do the usual, make sure your spam filter didn't block the e-mail etc. If that doesn't work, I'd try to register again, or send an e-mail to support and see if they can fix the issue.

As for the second issue. If you get the, "Patriots have retaken ***" message, that just means that the locals figured out that there were no opposing units in the area, so they took their town back. These units only function is to retake their own towns, and being locals, they aren't going to be very keen on actually marching around being real army units. Basically, it's just a bonus for having high loyalty in an enemy held, but ungarrisoned territory. If you want to hold it, you need to get reinforcements to them, though getting anything to Laredo is a bit difficult. :)

I had the same problem than you, it was Hotmail which was being overzealous with its anti-spam policy.
Send them a message, the admin will fix the problem for you.

McClellan asked, "What troops are those fighting in the Pike?"
Hooker replied, "[Brigadier] General Gibbon's brigade of Western men."
McClellan stated, "They must be made of iron."

Icedawg,

Your problem is solved. You can now access to the forum, I validated your registration.

Surely an anti-spam problem. Sorry for the inconvenience,

Best regards,

Thank-you.

I'll go try to post my questions there. There are very few individuals using this forum, so I have great hope that the AGEOD forum will be more helpful.
