Research upgrades

Post by kirk1226 »

In my game as the union against the rebel AI, it is late Feb. 1862. When i go into the city list I see there in the top left corner the "upgrade research". Right now mine are showing the following: 1.Weaponry+28 9 bulbs lit 2.Engineering +14 6 of 10 bulbs lit. 3.Logistics +9 10 bulbs lit 4.Training +24 7 of 10 bulbs lit 5. Naval +20 3 bulbs lit and finnaly Experience +0 no bulbs lit. My questions then are, how do I interpret this and use it to my advantage. How is experience a research development and is that something I would gain on this chart by combat? Again, thanks for any help. Kirk Hutzel

Sort of a mystery to me, but those are good numbers........The Union gets alot of upgrades. Experience I think applies to when you fight a battle, sometimes you will see that a general increases a units experience level etc. Do not qoute me on this though.

You could do with more logistics centers though. Logistics are the key to winning.

Yea if you fight a battle you MIGHT get experience research points.

From the manual:
I.DC.16.1 Military Group Experience
For every unit that participated in a battle with more than 5,000 casualties, there is also a small chance (3-5%) that one of three things will occur: the Staff Rating of its military group will increase
by one level; the Logistical Rating of its military group will increase by one level; or its nation will gain 10 points in the Experience category of upgrade research

If you fill up the experience bar you get a pick from any of the other areas of research (random).

Research points (like +28 in weaponry) is calculated by the ammount of research institutes of that kind you have +/- governors (some might support weapons research giving you a bonus, and some might oppose some research giving you a penalty). Schools and Universities also helps with research in the city they are built.
