Windows Vista Compatability

Post by DEB »

Hello,

1. Can anyone tell me if John Tiller's Battleground Napoleonic Wars works OK on Windows Vista?

( If you have the game and you use Windows Vista your comments would be particularly useful. )

2. Does anyone know if Matrix are planning to update this game to make it Windows Vista compatable if it needs it?

( If it just needs some user "adjustment/s" to make it work correctly, can anyone please advise the nature and detail of the "adjustment/s" req'd. )

Many thanks.

Please come and join and befriend me at the great Steam portal! There are quite a few Matrix/Slitherine players on Steam! My member page: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197988402427

What about the Campaign Series games? I've tried running it, and at the end of each "move" of a piece whether the AI or myself, the screen blinks White. Just not playable that way.

I guess the first thing for me to try then would be a re-install. What video card are you using? Mine is the nVidia GeoForce 9800.

I don't have any of the BG games, just the CS. My "reinstall" didn't help, not sure what to think. This is the only game with that problem. I even tried running as "Administrator."

When in doubt read the README! Duh. A message in the "readme" file, relative to Vista, told me what to do. Did it! All is joy in mudville. Thanks for those who posted here, which gave me confidence that it does work!

The first thing to try is to right click the game exe and go to the compatibility tab and disable visual themes and desktop composition. Your issue sounds like a vid driver issue with the Aero theme when running that game. I've seen similar graphic glitches in other games on Vista and what I just said is the fix. If that doesn't fix it for you then I will eat my hat.
