Terrain Chart?

Post by Akmatov »

Reading a book about WW1 and inspired to return to GOA.

Notice that terrain has an effect on both movement and combat, but nowhere in the rules or this forum do I find anything about what the specific effects are. Anyone know of a Terrain Chart somewhere? Surely, a defender must gain a benefit by defending behind a river, the map is drawn so rivers pass between hexes is a hint, but how much benefit would be nice to know.

According to the Readme.rtf file there is a defensive bonus for rough terrain that is displayed next to the word "Terrain" when you click on a unit that is in it - off the top of my head I don't recall it tho'.

Don't see anything about rivers though, and I would think that in the scale the game is played they would have minimal effect - but that's just supposition on my part.

Was just reading how getting over the rivers gave the Germans and Austrians great difficulties in 1915 when they invaded Serbia. And I'd think rivers like the Vistula would matter even at this scale.
